The Branding Iron Restaurant
One of the most popular, and more elegant, places in town, this restaurant is based on the old Merced farmer's, cattle ranchers, and their brands. A rich wood style, white tablecloths, and local cattle brands encompass the wall tops and the restaurant includes a garden courtyard. Outstanding steaks, prime rib, salmon, and more are on the menu.
The waitress was not polite, our steaks were grossly undercooked (too much blood), and to top it off the waitress kept our credit card. We called in hopes of picking it up but were told that they were unable to wait for us to arrive (closing time was 11pm and would be arriving about 10 minutes after that). Never did she apologize and actually made it our fault-yelled and was unprofessional. We spoke with the owner in hopes of getting an apology but nothing. So no apology and we have been inconvienced without our credit card because we cancelled it. Do not go there.
Very poor service from the owner down to the staff. I thought the food was ok, my family strongly disagreed. For the price the service, and food should be top notch. Owner is grumpy, rude and has to get the last word in.
Best steak house in town, with prime rib, sea food, pastas, salads, soups. You get a lot of food for the price, the best desserts, atmosphere can be casual for families or romantic in a corner or by the fireplace, 2 banquet rooms, comfortable friendly bar, extremely friendly service, family owned.
This is probably the Locals choice as best fine dinning experience, but I find the food unspecial and the prices huge. The place is always hopping, but Ive only failed once to get a reservation on short notice.
This is a great place to get a steak and enjoy a nice atmosphere! Though, a little on the pricey side, the service is excellent. It does pay to have reservations for a group of four or more and sign up at the lobby for their news letter....lots of M-TH savings!!!!
