Cocoro Bistro Sushi Bar, Stockton

My wife and I both got the impression that this restaurant was just a place to be seen in, not to enjoy the food. The service is poor and the food is not that good. The prices are high. Obviously, I do not recommend it.

We found it expensive and the food fairly average. It was one of the first places in town that we tried and were not that impressed by the menu. The saki menu is really small and hardly any unfiltered, which we prefer. Also, the rolls were fairly standard to what you find at most restaurants and the sashimi was average.

Their food is fresh and excellent! I have never been disappointed there and I have been to a lot of Japanese restaurants. Love their fried squid (calamari), their spicy scallops and the salads are delicious. The Sushi chef is a perfectionist and he will prepare you anything you ask for. Not cheap if you are hungry - but healthy and yummy.

I love this place its has the best Sushi in Stockton. It's a great place to take friends or a date.

I have been to Cocoro many times. The sushi is easily the best in town. If you are not a fan of sushi or sashimi choose from a variety of delicious chicken, pork, beef and vegetable dishes. My favorite is the sushi and sashimi combination plate. I agree that the acoustics of the restaurant do not lend themselves to casual conversation but with such wonderful food, who wants to talk?! Service has its highs and lows but it has never caused me to have a bad experience nor has it stopped me from wanting to go back again. The only way you'll know is to go to Cocoro yourself and give it a try. Be sure and bring your appetite!

Great contemporary sushi. The menu and presentation is outstanding. Unfortunately, the acoustics makes it very difficult to have a conversation. Further, the service is lacking. I have yet to have a service where we all receive our plates in relative close succession. That said, the food trumps the service and acoustics! I will keep going back�

The food at Cocoro is the best sushi I've had in Stockton. Better than Sho Mi but the service was absolutely terrible. And I'm not basing this on one visit, I've been there several times and the service was consistentely bad. Too bad for such a nice establishment.

I have many good memories of the spicy sushi, eel rolls, california rolls, spicy crunchy scallops, terriaki beef or chicken, octopus sashami, salads, you name it those are some of my favorites. I still go there now and then, though I tend to overeat when I do!

The atmosphere at Cocoro is Delightful. They are so friendly and helpful. Sushi is delicious. There is only one time we had a problem with a waitress but it was fixed promptly. We drive to stockton from modesto every weekend to eat Cocoro.

I feel very sad for anyone who has anything less then wonderful to say about Cocoro. Yes they can get busy but can you blame them for that? The food is incredible! I have never had anything that I did not like. My suggestions are the Salmon Lomi Lomi, Spicy Crunchy Scallop and the Coco Roll. The staff is very personable. As I find with most things in life, if your not glaring you may have a more positive experience, even when things are a little hectic. Oh... and if you can, I know I have a little trouble with this, save room for the Tempura Ice Cream, it is fantastic! As some others have mentioned try and get there early or plan to have a drink and enjoy your company while you wait. Even better... go for lunch... specifically on a Saturday.
