Ever since Sato Sushi changed hands, the service and food quality has gone downhill. But there is good news. The original owners have opened a new Sato Sushi on Hamilton Ave in Campbell. It is located down the street from Fry's Electronics. The food and service is better than ever. I live in South San Jose and I will make the drive to Campbell just for Sato. It is definitely worth the drive. Stay away from the Monterey Rd. Sato Sushi.
I went there for a lunch time.
When I walked in, the place was almost empty.
I asked to seat at the bar. The waiter showed me to the place and left.
I did not get any menu. I had to wait and finally wave my hands to ask somebody for a menu. Finally they threw the menu on the table and never came back. I made an eye contact with the chef at the bar. He came over and took the order. The fish was ok, not great, but ok for the lunch time. The waiter never came back to ask if I need anything else. And I've heard how they talked to another family next to me... brrr, they are simply rude. I will never go back. (By the way, I don't usually complain about the service, but that was the worse I've seen)
I gave two star, just because the chef was nice and fish was not all that bad.
First off F*U*C*K*S*A*T*O*. When i first went there i thought it was the best ever...then i started getting the bad service by the one girl that vanishes as soon as she seats you and NEVER refills your drink. If you like good sushi but dont mind horrible service THEN this is the place for you!
One of the waitresses acted she could care less if you were asking her for help. She would glance at you and walk away, and come back when you were asking for the check. We wanted our drinks refilled, but that never happened. The sushi also looked wilted in the plastic wrapped plates, nice trains though.
The sushi here is great and the prices are decent for the rolls... about $10 bucks each. The only bad thing is the customer service here. The one on Hamilton Ave beats this one with customer service. It's top notch. Anyways, back to this place: its so hard to grab someone to help you but when they do, its good food. Also, if you save room for desert, get the Tempura Vanilla Ice Cream. It's totally delicious!!!
I thought that they had great service, but the communication needs to be improved. I ordered california roll and wanted them to add cucumber. They did, but they took out the avacado. I was pretty angry, but I never said that I wanted them to take it out. But overall, the sushi is great.
i went here with a group of friends and had and ok experience. the service was mediocore. the lady that was serving us had no personality, but the other one who help run the food was much better. we ordered sake, maguro, and shiro maguro nigiri style. the sake and shiro maguro was ok, but the tuna was straight frozen. the fish was still icy...we didn't finish that part of the meal. we also ordered a few different rolls, and they were okay. it was our first time there and so we weren't sure what roll was what when it was presented and so you ask right? we asked and the server had no clue. maybe a little refresher is needed or at least ask the chef when the order was picked up. all in all the place was okay. this wouldn't be my first choice to go to, but not much places are open on sundays.
they have a good selection of sushi but they leave the sushi on the train to long. It gets cold like the deep fried sushi rolls and potstickers...who wants to eat soggie deep fried california roll...blah
