Not since the old "White House" steak sandwich place in Old Town Campbell (1980's) has a steak sandwich been made worthy of being called a hoagie. The sandwichs are large tasty and reasonably priced. I do not know what a "Phily" is supposed to look like, taste like or even smell like but I know what a steak sandwich is and this place has 'em. The sides are huge, so if you order frys or onion rings, be sure to bring someone to share with. Even the sandwichs (7") could make a meal for two small people. Since I am not small, (+275lbs) a 7" sandwich is more than emough.

What can I say? I loved this place when I was the second customer waiting at the door for them to open in '97 and still love this place today. Granted, I lived around the corner back then and now live on the upper Peninsula - I still make it back once in awhile not only for their incredible cheesesteaks & hoagies but also to see the man (and family) that started it all. Now, it's nice to see the kids behind the counter continuing all of his hard work. I have had beef cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks and have had them hoagiefied as well. If you want some good tasting comfort food, this is the place. Sides like fries (plain or with cheese) & onion rings come in large portions (just like the sandwiches) and the never-ending drink refills top it all off. This is a great place to to eat and be around good friends. Cheers!

Awesome cheesesteaks!! I got a "shorty" with fries and only got through half of both. And, I was stuffed. I wonder how these stack up to the cheesesteaks in Philly, PA?

Best Philly Cheese steak anywhere in the Bay Area. Fatest steak, onion, bellpepper on a huge hogie roll. You buy the 12 and two hungry men will be stuffed. Prices seem responible and affordable. You might want to get the 24 inch because it's like ordering 3 large pizzas. Highly recommend Amato's!

I love this sandwich place. My friend introduced me to this place about three years ago and I fell in love with it. I usually get the steak and cheese shorty sized sandwich is still huge. I think it is impossible to finish a twelve inch. I would highly recommend this place to all.

OK YOU WALK IN...ORDER A CHEESESTEAK AND YOU PAY FOR IT BIG TIME. YOU SIT DOWN ON NON SANITARY CHAIRS AND WAIT. YOU START FEELING BETTER ABOUT SPENDING 8.00 DOLLARS. YOU GET YOUR CHEESESTEAK...LOOKS GREAT...SMELLS GREAT...YOU TAKE YOUR FIRST BITE...........CANNED MUSHROOMS! WHAT THE F!?$. GREAT CHEESESTEAK AND CANNED MUSHROOMS. I HAD A BIG PROBLEM WITH THAT. THATS NOT RIGHT. I STILL EAT THERE WHEN I AM REALLY HUNGRY. THIS IS A WONDERFUL PLACE FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE WHAT THERE BODY LOOKS LIKE.

Amatos is and always will be the best cheesesteak in the Bay Area. I have read the reviews of a few jerks who give this place 1 star. Ignore them, and go see for yourself. It is worth it.

amato's should not be allowwed to call their sanwiches "cheesesteaks" they serve "steak and cheese" sandwiches, much like you can get at subway. i was born and raised in southeastern PA, and if i ever ordered a cheesesteak in Norristown, and got an Amato's, i'd throw it back at the man behind the counter and never go back. i wish i could put a rating of less than 1 star.
