Henry's World Famous Hi-Life
For almost 40 years, Henry's World Famous Hi-Life steakhouse has been a San Jose legend. It occupies an old corner building behind the new San Jose Arena, and you can choose from a variety of huge steak dishes. The ribs are dynamite and so is the service. It is a fun place for the family, couples, or tourists interested in finding out what has been keeping this place packed for so many years. It is mere minutes away from the downtown area.
I've been coming back to this joint with my family year in and year out. It has always been packed with regulars for a reason. There are just some places you keep coming back to, because you feel at home.
It's not the most attractive restaurant. In fact, it is a hole in the wall. Certainly not the place to impress a first date! But, let me tell you, I've always enjoyed the tasty and juicy ribs, and I never tire of it!
I've never been disappointed at Henry's and would highly-recommend it! Five stars for life!
I first went to Henry s in 1965(?). It s not the dinner house to go to before prom. It s a steak house that will feed you, fill you, and send you home in a meat coma. Ahhhh! And order the mushrooms. You ll thank me for that tip!
I can't quite agree with many of the other reviews. I cajoled a friend of mine into going to the Hi-Life for dinner. I had heard great things about the San Jose Institution. I love quirky places and don't mind paying good money for good food. What I found was an atmosphere that was hot and smokey. The people who worked the restaurant all had permanent harried looks on their faces, which did not include a smile. The chicken was good, the salad uninspired. The very worst, however, was the bread they served with dinner. It was literally dipped in a vat of some oily substance that squirted out of the bread when you bit into it. I was embarrassed, my friend was forgiving. We both love barbeque but neither of us is likely to return to or recommend this place.
This Place Is Full Of Great People. Always Have Smiles On Their Faces And Jimmy Makes The Best Drinks At The Bar. Not To Mention A Great Atmospher With Shark Enthusiasim All Around The Bar. Best Steak I Have Ever Had With Their Yummy Buttery Bread Ummm, You Will Love It
