Minato Japanese Cuisine, San Jose

Althought there are a few other Japanese restaurants in the same vicinity, Minatos is my favorite by far. There are times when there is a wait to be seated, but if the food and service wasn't excellent, well, there wouldn't be a wait. There is limited parking, but that is the same for all of this area. This is the place to go if your looking for the best in Japanese cuisine.

The food was good, they even have hot chicks that sreve you.

Hard to find parking if you get there too late! Friendly owners and fast service! Don't forget change to feed the meters. Have your guests in hand because you wont be seated till you have all arrived!

where you go for lunch when you want great Japanese food. The bentos are consistently awesome, especially recommend the tonkatsu!!! The service is very attentive, the owner comes to your table every time to see how things are...been 20+ times...too bad changed jobs, and it is too far now.

Bad service and it wasn't even crowded. Some lady sat us in a dirty table, so we moved right next to the vacant table next to us. The place is half full and there were penty of other table around. The lady came back to us and was confused. She was also visibly upset, anyway the food was ok but the service kill the whole scene. OH THE DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Worst of all the fish was NOT fresh or firm, and tasted somewhat moldy. The rolls were not creative in the least, and the portions were tiny-GOD AWEFUL service, I never go back!!! Wipe this one off the guide books. I read some other positive reviews and they must be from employees of Minato or their friends/spouses. There are so many other sushi restaurants in the neighborhood that we'll give those a try.

I have been to Minato's many times, and it is consistently a good experience. The service is very friendly, and the food is excellent & inexpensive. They have a VERY limited sushi selection, but what they have is very good. It's very crowded at lunch, and you have to get there before noon to get a table right away. However, they will take your order while you wait, and when you are finally seated, you barely have time to put your napkin in your lap before the food comes. It is very quick.

Minato's has great food and isn't too expensive. The taste is superb and I go almost once or twice every month. Try to get there early, for they are always packed, since it is so great!

I have worked in the Japantown area for many years and have eaten at Minato's many many times. The food, service, and value are consistently without equal in Sillicon Valley. They have a variety of excellent meals. You are seated rapidly but you better be early if coming around lunch time. This place fills up quickly, which is the hallmark of a place with GREAT food.

Wow!! Minato was Awesome!My wife and I ate there 3 of the 6 night business trip.The only reason we didn't eat there more is because they close on Sunday and Monday. Tempura and Teriaki to die for! I am a round eye good old boy from Florida.I love Japanese food and this is the best I have ever tasted ! Service was excellant and prices are great as well.To hell with Fishermans Wharf! If you are in the Bay Area Minato is well worth the little drive into Japan Town in San Jose! Seriously the best food and service We have encountered in the USA !

This place has excellent japanese food for a more then reasonable price. The bentos are excellent and so is the staff. during lunch it gets alittle crowded, and for me its a long drive threw traffic, but it is well worth it. And the waitresses are beautiful.
