WE camp near Santa Cruz every summer for a week or two...And love Seabright...Nothing fancy but great beer...THer blur is tasty and the Baked Brie & Caramelized Roasted Garlic it a given you have to try it...Wait staff has always been great day or night...Give it a try you will love it.....
I have been coming to this joint for twenty years, though it's not because of either the food or service. It's the beer and the fact that you can ride your bike to meet whomever there and enjoy the ambience. The patio is large and has heaters, while the inside caters to sporting events and it's easily accessible to see any of their four large TV's. They have been putting on the Tuesday neighborhood night and there has always been weekend entertainment. There is no reason for the ownership to change anything that they feel isn't broken as long as there are locals there occupying the seats.
With this being said I have not lived in Santa Cruz for many years and usually come here out of necessity. Yes the food isn't all that unless you get a burger and fries which is hard to screw up. The wait people are very low key and there are probably not enough of them to service the entire restaurant so it will seem like they aren't paying attention to you. This isn't really their fault; this is how the owner likes to run the business and has not changed anything in twenty years.
So, the beer is great, the garlic fries good along with the salad and the service is mediocre. Come with a friend, park your bike and slosh a few down.
Great palce to see your friends if your a local, unfortunately UCSC girls run the place and are extremely rude if you are not a hippie, the waitress spilled ice all over my french fries and said oops sorry and then walked away, Absolutey the worst service I have ever experienced.
