I've eaten here several times over the years and it's always been great. Today I had the wonderful Oaxacan carnitas enchiladas in mole, chock full of very tender and tasty pork and served with large dollops of sour cream and guacamole plus refried beans & rice and the usual appetizer of chips and a very good salsa. The ambience is very pleasant. It's a little pricier than your average Mexican restaurant, but well worth it. Plus they have a great adjacent fresh veggie outdoor market with really great prices.
a zero star would have been better .. super awful...lol.. i didnt go in 1 time but 3 different times and each time had its share of disappointment... steak the 1st time.. thin and dry... real bad... 2nd time was with my girl. had a sampler.. most of which was cold.. service was poor.. and the 3rd was waiting for the bar band to start playing next door at Trashies and we had nachos... come on.. those sucked.. never again will i willingly give you our money !!!
Drinks are great. Large selection on the menu. But, after repeated visits, I have come to the conclusion that the staff is extremely rude. Its too bad since this is such a great place. The hostess and most of the wait-people are rude. There was one nice, smiley waitress. The rest of them were not helpful, didnt care about our needs, and didnt offer to fix a problem. Again, the drinks are great.
I affectionately refer to this place as the Hungry Heffer of Mexican food. The portions here are gigantic! I stopped off here on the way home from a golf tournament with some friends. We ended up spending about 2.5 hours enjoying great Mexican food, great Mexican beer and lots of great conversation. The wait staff was extremely friendly and helped point out some of their better specials. Find the time to stop off at the Enchilada should you ever be driving through Moss Landing.
If you like colors... a great place to visit... if you like artichokes (it IS located in the middle of artichoke growing country) they have a great appetizer.... if you like authentic Mexican cuisine... it is one of the better in the region.... I was raised in So. Cal. where great Mexican (and NONE chains) resturants abound... and this one compares favorably.... waitresses are fun... friendly... and the Margaritas are generous... served in really big glasses and their attention to the salt (very important for my drink) is very good... I recommend this place which is less than a block off Highway 1 above Monterey to you.
Great Mexican style seafood dishes creatively made
By A Yahoo Contributor, 9/29/06
Great seafood, including their Whole Enchilada enchilada that has a large quantity of wood grilled snapper wrapped in a tortilla and covered with tomatillo sauce. Many other Vera Cruz style seafood dishes with crab, salmon when in season, and shrimp.
The side dishes of beans and rice are typical Tex-Mex and best ignored, but the main dishes are sufficiently filling that this is not a concern.
Fun mulit-colored interior that has a real south of the border / Caribbean feel and is constantly undergoing revision or changes that make it interesting.
