Mobo Meanings...In the 1920's Japanese youth, who wore western clothes and assimilated western ideals, called themselves modern boys or Mobo.MoboKanji translation:To search while standing still and wandering.English derivation (slang) from Mobius, Inventor of famous paper strip science experiment.Apragmatic example of illusion and perception.Alludes to the integration of East and West into symbiotic world culture.
I've been going to Mobo for over 15 years and I think they've gotten too big for their britches.
My favorite item was the hot box and they have raised the price nearly $5 over the last 3 years.
In fact all of their prices have gone up considerably. I think they figure they'll get the UCSC crowd
and can charge more. Don't get me wrong, the sushi is good but it's not great and not at their new inflated prices. Hence my 3 star review. Takara and the nearby I love Sushi are much better.
Love coming here to eat when I was living in Santa Cruz. Our favorite Japanese restaurant. Fair prices for tasty sushi. The place is a little small so there can be a wait sometimes. We came down to visit recently, the staff was friendly as usual, I didn't order this time around, but we got the Ice nine roll and the Tsunami roll, love the macadamia nuts in the Tsunami roll. Will come back to visit often.
Everything about Mobo is top-notch. The atmosphere is relatively quiet but energetic. Serving staff are quick and professional. Sushi is absolute top-grade, fresh, and plentiful. I have never been disappointed with any order here, and have been coming here for over 10 years.
At mobo sushi the food, Ambiance, service, and the price are all very good. What I liked about Mobo is the menu, it has alot of cool names for the suhi.the Waiters And waitresses are very friendly too. If your not around here then i suggest you eat hear for a fun a delicious time!!!! two thumbs up!!
This place has the most variety, freshest fish and friendliest staff compared to other sushi places in Santa Cruz. I've brought people from out of the state and they call me up craving Mobo's! Check it out!
