Authentic Greek food. Outstanding. The taste is superb. The chicken souvlaki is incredible, particualry with the unique yougurt/garlic dip. I have never heard a complaint about the food on any dish ordered. We eat there at least once every two weeks. On Fri and Sat nights, it is crowded and noisy. Consider takeout.

Hot inside
By Peter C, 7/23/07
Wonderful Greek resturant as the lamb was extremely tasty, although mine was a bit overcooked. Enjoyed the flaming cheese and meetball appitizer. Be advised that if you come in on a warm day that the resturant gets very hot inside as the place needs to get some AC installed.

Can't stand the heat, so I got near the kitchen

5:00pm on a Sunday isn't the best time to head to Santa Cruz. Well, unless it's over 100 in your front yard, then the 62 fog will seem mighty appealing. What makes it even more appealing is the chance to grab dinner at Vasili's. The food here is fantastic ranging from generous Souvlaki to an incredible Veggie Mousaka. (Ok, probably won't find that on your next trip to Athens, but this IS Santa Cruz and you're not THAT far from the campus). The staff is warm, agile, and accomodating. Dinner is better (and pricier) than lunch, but both are well worth the trip. Lunch has a number of good cheap eats, but ends at 6pm. Oh, and two tips, they tend to be a little heavy handed with the oregano on the fries, so if you're not a fan of that, you may want to have them skip it. Also, come hungry.

Mmmmoussaka

The food here is yummy. Nothing more to describe it. Just yummy. The ambience is quite inviting (see picture on my 360 blog), and the waitresses are really cute. I also found out that Chauvignon is a Greek wine.
