This popular local breakfast and lunch spot is a welcome oasis in the hustle and bustle of beach activities. The cafe features tasty and innovative menu selections as well as one of the largest Maxfield Parrish print collections in the United States. Eggs Beach Street, a popular item, features poached eggs topped with a Hollandaise sauce, artichoke hearts and bay shrimp.
My boyfriend and I came here one morning before going to the boardwalk. There was one server and one host/bust boy. There were only a few tables there. It took a while to for the drinks and for our order to be taken.
After our order was put through, our server walked outside to talk to someone. Our food, as well as another table's food, came up in the window. It sat there for more than five minutes. The whole time the staff stared at the plates and at the server talking outside. Finally the host tried to figure out which order was which for another few minutes.
The server finally came back and delivered our meals. My boyfriend's plate was wrong and the clam chowder was watered down.
You should just go to El Pasino down a few blocks. They have great Mexican food.
Really small place, so the wait was a bit long even though there weren't that many people ahead of us. Service took a little while, only because there were only 2 waiters working, so understandable. Waiter was really nice and friendly though and told us about a fireworks show going on later that night which we wouldn't have known about otherwise.
I had the pancake sandwich which was a great deal, about 8 bucks for 2 pancakes the size of the plate, a slice of ham (you have a choice of bacon or sausage as well) and an egg cooked any way you like. Quite a lot of food for 1 person, I took one of the pancakes home. Highly recommended. My friend's omlette was tasty and cooked well. Another friend had the clam chowder in a bread bowl, he said the bread was really good, but the clam chowder was a sorta watered down and not that great.
Lots of Maxfield Parrish prints on the wall, interesting to look at.
I'd suggest it if you want to go out to breakfast and have plenty of time to spare. If you're in a rush or time table, you should probably wait another day, but definitely worth checking out.
