Zelda's on the Beach, Capitola

Walking along the number of restaurants and bars we decide to have a drink outside at Zelda's patio overlooking the beach. it is quite nice.. Walking up to 4 people at the outdoor hostess area we ask if sitting outside we could get a quick drink.. this was received with almost dirty looks from 2 of the staff... one states if we wanted something fast go to the bar ourselves... we suggest we would take our chances outside.. one of the stuck up hostesses with a sour look on her face walks to the nearest table right next to a family that is having child issues.. I motion to her if she could take us down to the end of the patio... looking frustrated like she had spent hours with 2 very difficult people she walks up to me and hands me the 2 menus and says just find your own place to sit.. as my girl starts to walk toward the end of the patio.. I say I kind of feel like leaving.. she says.. I was just thinking that.. .. I walk back up to the hostess station and throw the menus in front of her and say .. why dont you seat yourself !!! as we walked out... I would have liked to add a word to the end of that ,, but i restrained myself...We love Capitola Village.. really just to hang out.. the many places here are really sub par at best.. location seems to keep them in business but if a really good eatery came in it would destroy the surounding competition..

location was good but my mahi mahi sandwhich came dry which you have to pay extra for toppings to give it flavor. Fries were over cooked and greasey. Overpriced place. Disappointed.

This place sucked. It was really expensive too- it was about $80 for just two dinners and drinks, no appetizers or alcohol ordered. The food was bad, and the chicken was really tough and my date's steak was served cold. The worst part of our experience was the service, which consisted of a less-than-friendly waitress who abandoned us for most of our time there. Plus the place was teeming with flies- there were flies everywhere, which made me wonder about the cleanliness of the place. I will never eat there again.

Ditto. Only thing going for it is the LOCATION! =0) Servers are arrogant. Food is mediocre.

Great view of the beach, as you are right on it. However the food is barely adequate and the cocktails are are really watered down. I visited several shops nearby and in two of them, I had expressed my disappointment at Zelda's. Both places, I was told that Zelda's is a place they do NOT recommend to anyone, as they seem only to care about getting the customers in and out and don't seem to have to worry about repeat business.

Friendly people and great location by the beach - but the service is so slow, and the food and cocktails are not that great.

The view was nice, that's about it. The service sucked (slow!). Mainly we walked in got a table outside. Ten minutes later, we had a server; another 10 min later we got drinks. Our chips and salsa appetizer came 30 after arrival, and our food was obviously sitting for awhile when we got it. We got refills when our food was done. And I had to get my own ketchup and mustard b/c they never came by after. The quality was okay in food. The restaurant wasn't even that busy.

Nice View, Great View.. Do not try the French Dip.. Its the lowest quality French Dip I have ever tasted. The did deduct the french dip from my bill after complaining. If you get what I was served you will be disappointed. More fat then meat. I cannot speak for the other items.
