Made a reservation at Paines requesting a particular booth for a special anniversary dinner. When we arrived we were informed by the hostess that she had already seated others at the booth we had reserved. Naturally we were disappointed. She apologized and provided with an order of cocktails to compensate us for the error on her part. Our waiter, Steven was very friendly, warm and attentive. He served a basket of very warm wonderful bread. I wanted to order a Lobster tail for my wife as it is her favorite and he told us they had run out which was our second disappointment. The salads he served were fresh crisp and tasted great except for the fact that he said they also were out of fresh ground pepper which we both wanted (our third disappointment). Shortly after one of the owners approached our table and asked how everything was. We told her that the Bread, Salad and our server were great but that we were disappointed about the Booth, the Lobster and the Pepper. Without hesitation she offered to buy us each a glass of wine and profusely apologized. Shortly after that the Booth we had originally requested became available and she offered to move us to it which we accepted. Our dinners arrived hot and very well prepared with large portions. Both of our entrees were excellent in all ways. In addition she arrived with fresh pepper for our dinners. As we finished our dinners our waiter advised us that they also wanted to provide us dessert at no charge which we declined because we were both completely full. All in all what started out with a few disappointments, because of the owners and staffs attitude and the quality of the food, turned into a very enjoyable dinner. We not only look forward to going there again but will not hesitate to recommend it to others. Great service, great food and a great attitude on the part of the owner and staff!
Stopped at Paine's yesterday, 8/5/08. The dining room offered a very comfortable place for anyone, families included to relax and take in the fine foods offered. The service offered to us was exactly as I would expect in any larger towns 5 star restaurants.
This will become our dining stop when passing through to Carmel from the east.
Thanks again for the fantastic food that was served. I really enjoyed the new style twist on the old club sandwich.
Excellent place! I can't wait to return to try another item on the menu.
