Mountain Home Inn, Mill Valley

Gorgeous views, great food, great location. Don't miss it.

My husband and I just got back from a week at the Mountain Home Inn celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. This inn is beautiful. We got a high-end room with a jacuzzi bath, fireplace and deck. There was no T.V., so it was a great escape from the world. The staff was good but not in your face at all. Breakfast came with the room and was excellent with good choices, and good service. We had dinner there one night, which again was excellent. We went there to hike and get away and relax, and that is exactly what we did. We were having a big anniversary get-away, so we went for one of the best rooms (room # 5). I think it was worth the money (though it was expensive, more than we would normally think about paying) for the privacy and the amenities we got. We got an internet special of fourth night free, and the breakfast also made it more affordable. All in all, it was a fantastic experience and we would do it over again.

Nice setting and good food but the service was terrible. There were long waits in the dining room (two sets of visitors complained while we were there); dirty towels left in our room from previous guests; some of the staff were rude; and they messed up some of our hotel charges and had to call us weeks later for additional billing. Overall, more frustrating than it was worth.
