my girlfriend, her two sons and I had dinner at the wildfox on sept. 2nd, 2009, and my girlfriend ended up in the hospital later that night suffering from a severe anaphylatic reaction. my girlfriend is allergic to shellfish. she ate half a hamburger and a few bites of a sundae and some how her food had been contaminated. her throat closed and she could NOT talk. we have known that she is allergic to shellfish for a long time, but she had half a hamburger for christ sake!!! not shellfish. when my girlfriend called to explain what had happened all she got was an empty apology. the wild fox does not seem to understand the gravity and seriousness of food poisoning. IT CAN BE FATAL!!!!!!!!!
needless to say, we will never go back. anyone with any food allergies would be wise to do the same.
the restaurant had a nice ambiance but an hour after eating their ahi sandwich I got food poisoning. later I called and talked the the manager Michael and he made no concessions for the tainted food and told me I should see a doctor if I did not feel well. I think I will bring my business partners elsewhere next time and I suggest you do too.
The general manager is rude. The battery of my blackberry died and I was not able to call my husband to let him know that I was at the restaurant with my niece waiting for him to join us for dinner. I talked to the general manger about this, and he sent me across the street to use a public phone. I could not believe it! I used to go to this restaurant quite often with family and friends but I will never go back... BTW, the phone call was local.
First time at Wildfox - loved it. Early bird dinners 4:30pm to 6pm - soup or salad, choice of entree, dessert or glass of wine = $19. Excellent food. I had baby back ribs and husband had pot roast. Both excellent. Wonderful atmosphere. Right off Hwy 101. Good service. We would definately come back again.
We took my mother-in-law to WildFox for Mothers Day at her suggestion. She is a senior on a budget, so she likes to save money and has discount cards. It was natural for her to ask if she could use her discount card even though we told her we were treating her on Mothers Day. She has suffered a couple of strokes that has affected her speech. When she asked about using her card, the waiter was condescending and made her feel embarrassed. Apparently, WildFox doesn't accept her discount card on Mothers Day but accepts it on other days. We took her to WildFox to celebrate Mothers Day. It was upsetting to see her expression of hurt and embarrassment. She told us that she has been to WildFox a few times over the past year and was surprised that they had increased the prices so much just on Mothers Day. Eggs Benedict at $17, the lowest priced entree was disappointing. Everything was soggy. Two soggy Thomas muffins were topped with rubbery ham and uneven cooked eggs. Beef Hash at $18 looked like dogfood and was greasy. The pumpkin filling in two slices of French Toast at $22 was good but the toast was soggy. WildFox automatically includes an 18% gratuity, so we couldn't leave the tip we felt was appropriate for the mostly soggy food, unresponsive service, and condescending way the waiter treated my mother-in-law on Mothers Day.
I'm always amazed that everything I ever order is wonderful. Munther and Debbie have done a wonderful job producing, arguably, the best food in Marin. At work we vote on where we have our Christmas office dinner and Wildfox has been the unanimous winner for the last 3 years. What more can I say - It's great enough to be unforgettable. (ps: get the seared Ahi tuna roll appetizer.....hint, hint....) Have a great time - Marc from DVO
