Historic Sand Rock Farm
Sand Rock Farm is a private lodge, where you can go if you want to keep a low profile, with probably a neighbor or two for company. Rooms, such as Morning Glory and Honeycomb Suite, are comfortable country-like chambers, with ample sunlight. And the amenities - hot tub, electric fireplace and the beautiful rose garden - certainly make life rosy if not easy. The proximity to wineries in Corralitos, special spa packages, gourmet cooking class and a great venue for weddings are added pluses. Also the delectable, complimentary breakfast is simply worth all the effort. Non-smoking property
We had our wedding at the stunningly beautiful Sand Rock Farm in July 2008. My husband and I really wanted to get married outdoors, and when we saw the Redwood Grove location, we were sold, and knew we wanted to get married underneath the gorgeous Redwood tree, among the lush greenery and abundant flowers of Sand Rock Farm. Our 95 guests loved the location, both for the ceremony and the reception in the nearby winery meadow. Innkeeper Kris helped us arrange everything - from the chair, table and linen rentals, the magnificent catering (Swingtime Caterers were amazing, we highly recommend Chef Antonette!), bartenders, and recommendations on florists (we love Brianna at Boulder Creek Flowers), cake suppliers (the Buttery), local restaurants, and even set up babysitters and entertainment for the 17 kids we had attending the wedding. Our photos from the wedding reflect the beauty of Sand Rock. Linda, the very professional field coordinator on the wedding day, kept everything organized and on schedule, and was a pleasure to work with as well. The house staff at Sand Rock - particularly Mackayla - were all smiles and super helpful. If planning a wedding here, I recommend renting out the entire inn for the weekend - we really felt like it was OUR place for the weekend and it was a blast for us to have our closest friends staying at the inn with us. We were thrilled all the way around with our wedding weekend at Sand Rock Farm and I would recommend it to anyone!
The grounds are wonderful. The building itself is well kept and charming. If you go for just the weekend I am sure it is a perfect experience, but I don't recommend trying to have a wedding there.
The woman who runs the Inn is rude and pushy, abrupt and inflexable. We had an extra child come to the breakfast table and she wouldn't allow the child to sit at the table or eat so his aunt gave up her place and food for the child.
We were not allowed to keep our baby seats, strollers, etc near us outdoors as we ate our meal after the wonderful loving wedding. So much love in the wedding. So much unkind hostile treatment from the staff.
When looking for a place to relax and leave the stress of the world behind, there is no better place than northern California, and Sand Rock Farm epitomizes the beauty of northern cali. Great service, confertable atmosphere, beautiful landscaping, you just can't beat it!
The location is great if you want to relax. The grounds are gorgeous. Rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfasts were delicious. The staff is great. We spent a mini-honeymoon here and would go back anytime. If you want to be close to shopping and restaurants, this is not the place. But if you want to relax, read or chill in the sun, and don't mind a short drive to town, this is a great spot.
My wife and I stayed there recently during the off season and as luck would have it, we were the only guests. The owner, Kris, went above and beyond the call of duty making our stay perfect. Kris had some personal business that she needed to attend to and was short staffed that day but she was on top of things and made sure that the house was ready for us when we arrived. The house was warm and the lights were on. It felt like we were coming home after an evening on the town!
The house was very comfortable and inviting. It was cold outside but warm and toasty inside. I built a fire in the fireplace in the livingroom and my wife and I spent about half the night in front of it. (One of the advantages of being the only guests that night!)
The room was spacious and delightfully decorated. The bed was soft, warm and comfortable and the jacuzzi tub in the room was a delight. The tub is located in the room with the bed and then there is a separate WC that also contains a shower an sink. A perfect layout for a romantic getaway!
The cook arrived the next morning to prepare our breakfast and it was wonderful! The french toast was to die for!
We left there completely satisfied and would highly recommend that you sample Sand Rock Farm's hospitality!
Our stay was unbelievably perfect! My husband booked the Romance Package in the Honeycomb Suite for me for a birthday surprise! Fresh flowers in the room, warm & friendly innkeeper, divine bed and jacuzzi tub and fabulous multi-course breakfast in the morning. I was pamper and thrilled to getway from it all in Aptos. The fountains and lush gardens were just like a picture book. I can't wait to go back.
