We just picked up pizza from this place and was not happy! The pizza is NOT WORTH the COST! It was just close to where we were staying. Would NEVER recommend to anyone. The staff did not acknowledge us for several minutes. Could it be they are racist? While we were waiting for some kind of acknowledgement, a white family came in and the staff acknowledge them immediately! FYI we are all born Americans! Born and raised in California. I am informing the staff at Seascape Resort to never recommend this pizza establishment. We will not buy food from this place ever on future visits! Plus they didn't sell hot wings? But they sold hamburgers? What's up with that?
Village host is good. I would not say it is great, but I grew up working in pizza parlors, and I am pretty picky. The pizza is very consistent and flavorful, the crust is medium thickness and usually has crunch on the bottom and soft on top. The staff has always been pretty helpful and unlike the last reviewer I have not seen a bunch of people just standing around with a bunch of dirty tables needing to be bused. The salad bar is good, and the sandwiches are really good. The place can be a little loud at times with the video games and TV's, but our kids like it and we order pizza there about once a month both eat in and take out. We don't normally do the delivery anymore because they sometimes take 45 minutes to an hour. I would say that there are better pizza places in Aptos (the best would be Pizza 1 in Seacliff), but Village Host is worthwhile and convenient for our family.
There's a reason this place has been around forever. The pizza and sandwiches are great, as well as the service and atmosphere. I've never been here when it wasn't buzzing with families, friends and yummy food!
Not sure what the other reviewers are talking about on this one. Our experience at Village Host Pizza was very poor. A bad vibe the moment we walked into the place as staff seemed annoyed to take our order. Once our order was placed and I waited to be helped in another dimly lit line for drinks, we then searched for a place to sit. While there were several tables available, not a single one was clean. I counted 14 tables that were messy and there were at least 5 staff standing behind the counter. I even witnessed one staffer knock over a chair and continue walking past it several times as it lay on the ground. I have never been into a dirtier restaurant. While waiting for our order and literally laughing at the scene (it was also amusing that everyone sitting on our side of the restaurant was completely transfixed on the television playing an episode of Cops) we joked that maybe the pizza is phenomenal, unfortunately that was not the case. We changed our order to take-out and left asap. Too bad.
