Ta-Ke Sushi, Rohnert Park

Friendly Host, Susan seems to know every customer who comes through the door - and what each prefers to drink. The sushi portions are larger than most any other sushi bar. The tempura very light & crisp. I was disappointed to learn they serve farm raised salmon.

Being new to the area, I asked the tech at Macrepair in Rohnert Park (who i think is Japanese) for a sushi bar recommendation. One of his recommendations, Ta Ke did not disappoint. The portions of sushi are huge - an excellent value. I tried everything on the Specials Board - all the freshest of fresh. Aji, Hammachi, Amai Ebi & Uni, Fatty Hammachi - all perfectly sweet and delicious. The tempura was excellent, light & crisp. The handrolls huge. Generous with shiso, fresh wasabi and free mochi icecream or real Green Tea icecream (not the artificially flavored concoction served in many restaurants) The sauce on the Hirame sashimi was a little heavy handed and the salad served has only iceberg lettuce. But those are tiny complaints in an otherwise enormously enjoyable meal. Not as gourmet or traditional as Hana, but a much more affordable option!

Picked up a menu at MacAdvantage and decided to try Ta Ke Sushi while waiting for my mac repair. Susan (Happy, friendly greeter/server) & William (Sushi maker) made me feel right at home. Every customer who walked in greeted Susan & William by name! Dining here almost feels like dining at a friend's place. Sushi portions were huge and the freshest of fresh. I sat at the sushi bar watching William's considerable finesse with his special sushi knives. Hammachi, Toro, Uni, Mirugai, Aji were all on the specials list and were exceptional. The tempura was perfect - light and crisp. Complimentary miso soup, green tea & green tea or mochi ice cream were included.

Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with this restaurant. The food was okay if you just want to be filled up. However, sushi presentation was lacking. Ambience was also not there, wait staff was prompt, but must say, we had an uncomforatble feeling. They sort of stared at customers. Wait staff was more personable when I left him a good tip! Overall, we were dissapointed.

The sushi is just great and the service is excellent. For the money you cannot beat it. The fish is as fresh and in much larger portions but cost quite a bit less. College students get a discount and very hungry people can get loads of food for under 20 bucks. Try th nigiri lunch for $11 you get 7 pieces of nigiri and a roll of your choice. I don't see why people go to the other places when Ta Ke is better and costs less.

THE BEST SUSHI EVER!! I LIVE IN PETALUMA, AND DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO RHONERT PARK JUST FOR SUSHI, EVEN THO THERE ARE PLACES HERE IN PETALUMA, THEY JUST DONT MEASURE UP TO THE QUALITY AND THE PRICE AND THE SERVICE YOU GET HERE TRY IT THE RHONERT PARK MAKI ROLL IS TO DIE FOR HE HE

I guess I should have had the sushi! When I ate here with my boyfriend, I ordered the tofu and the zaru udon. While I was happy to finally find a Japanese type restaurant that served zaru udon in Rohnert Park, I found that the dipping sauce tasted very concentrated and chemical... like something out of a cheap bottle. The tofu they served me had actually gone bad and the server/hostess tried to tell me she had just ordered it that morning. Maybe it was just bad luck...

The ambiance is nice, the service is friendly & efficient, the sushi is high quality, and the price is very fair. $10.75 gets you 7 pieces of sushi & a tuna or california roll (with miso & salad) for lunch--can't beat it. Everything is fresh. Like someone else said, I don't know why anyone goes anywhere else in Rohnert Park. Hana & Boathouse are overpriced (and the management of Boathouse aren't the nicest people; I had a friend who worked there), and Kyoto is more expensive & just not as good. U & I Sushi is garbage (enough said about that). *Sigh.* Help support Ta Ke; they're the best. You won't be disappointed.

Here on business and decided to try out the place based on the reviews here, and I can attest the sushi is very good. The portions are very generous, I sat at the bar and saw the man being very generous in his portions to all orders. Also reasonable price all across. Large Sapparo be very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

Ta-Ke is an unassuming restaurant in an unassuming location. I go every few weeks to eat their sushi rolls which are just fine and a good value. I like tempura shrimp with shiso leaf and tobiko which they do very nicely.
