Mario's La Fiesta, Berkeley

Cheap, delicious and generous portions -- what more could a poor student want? When we were students we ate here just about every Friday. That was over 15 years ago! We recently visited again so our children could experience this part of their parents' courtship. We were pleased to see it hasn't changed much! My favorite was and is the chile rellenos. The flavor and texture are wonderful. La Fiesta also gave me my first exposure to agua fresca and we always ordered some (usually strawberry, but sometimes pineapple). So refreshing! The service is fast and efficient. If I remember correctly, you get a free bowl of hard tortilla chips and salsas, and meals come with a clear, light chicken soup. Tip: Don't go during peak hours if you don't want to wait in line.

With a lot of great mexican to choose from, La Fiesta in Berkeley is the best, most authentic mexican fare in the whole bay area. If you think it sounds hyperbolic, don't take my word for it... Go see for yourself.

This place located in Telegraph & Dwight is very modest ubt the food is great for the price. The food is prepared really quickly. The ambiance is in theme with the antiqued furniture and this could be something you might want to check out.
