Cactus changed my LIFE! It can be hard for a vegetarian to get really excited about non-veg restaurants (besides pizza), but this place made me practically jump for joy. Their grilled vegetable burrito or tacos, chile relleno, and cheese enchiladas are mouth-watering. The tres leches cake and flan are great treats, but the powdered sugar-covered caramel butter cookies are the best!
Long wait not worth it. Each time I've gone in here there's a team of employees making food, but only one taking money and getting drinks. So that the wait to pay has been twice what it takes to wait in line, order, and receive your food. Furthermore, the burritos are very small despite the large price. The chips are out of a bag and awful. I would have ordered a second burrito but didn't want to wait through the stupid line again. So I went to Noah's a got a bagel, but despite the ten dollars on lunch I'm still hungry. I can't comment on how it tasted as it was such a brief experience I don't remember. There are so many good burrito places in the area I have no idea why anyone would eat here.
This is by far my favorite taqueria in Berkeley. They have veggie and vegan friendly options (I'm sorry, Gordo fans, but I just don't want a rice and bean burritto every time, no matter how big it is) in addition to using Niman ranch meats. The Solano location has raised their prices recently, making it a bit more expensive than it was. But still, the quality is always excellent and even the longest line goes pretty quickly (most of the time). The enchiladas are great too, as well as the tamales (note that the tamales don't come with rice and beans).
