This spacious, diner-style dining room has green marble tabletops, high ceilings and hanging plants. You will always find parking in the restaurant's own parking lot. The kitchen prepares a variety of dishes, from low-calorie treats to sinful entrees. The breakfast portion of the menu is the highlight; however, the lunch menu is also a strong contender with homemade soups and grilled chicken sandwiches. But the shining stars are the delicious egg dishes dripping in Hollandaise Sauce. Try the Crab and Artichoke Benedict served with a side of perfectly cooked home-style potatoes, topped with a dollop of sour cream.
A solid 4 stars. I recently moved to Emeryville and ran (jogged) by Gilman Grill many times and it always seemed populated during their open business hours . . . so I wanted to give it a try.
Had breakfast there last weekend and the overall experience was positive. The food was good (I recommend trying their homemade sausage . . . quite yummy), portions were consistent with their costs, the service very pleasant and helpful, the noise level was comfortable, table spacing generous (didn't feel packed in), plenty of parking, and a very casual atmosphere.
I recommend it and lookin' forward to going back to the Gilman Grill again.
this was the cutest place ever! there is plenty of parking and its really a family lil diner. overall fast and cute. the experience was very nice, and the service was very quick. It tends to get busy on weekends so try and call ahead.
This place looks like a dive, but inside it's good food. The scones and muffins are wonderful, along with their special breakfast menu items. All dishes are cooked to order. They also have egg whites for the lower cholesterol variations of their dishes.
It gets rather noisy inside, but it adds to the flavor of the place.
Amtrak runs close to the restaurant, so you'll want to reserve your voice until it passes.
Looks like nothing special. I passed it on the way to work everyday for 2 years and always thought I had it pegged for a dark greasy spoon for truckers headed south on 80. My wife and I decided to try it one Sunday and what a pleasant surprise when we walked in. Light and airy inside, very popular with families, and the food was excellent. Try a chocolate chip scone - mmm, so buttery and crumbly. Best scone in town, and I've tried a few.
