The San Francisco Bay Area is a diner's paradise. Places to eat and drink abound and this is one of the best places on earth to find sushi and Sugata has some of San Francisco's choicest. Sugata is a magnet for sushi lovers and those with a taste for Japanese food in general. This compact restaurant is ideal for intimate dining and its reputation guarantees a usually full house. So reservations are recommended. Popular menu selections like, California Roll, Tekka, Natto, Chicken Teriyaki, Bento Boxes, Combination are always in season, but you won't be disappointed no matter your order. Sugata's one of a kind sushi, prepared by the expert hand of chef Sugai-San will leave your mouth watering for more.
sugata restaurant is the best experience i've had with fresh sushi, everything is great about the place, great selection of fishes from all over the world and especially when they have their blue fin tuna, it simply just melts in your mouth, on top of all the great food the service is just great, they make you feel welcomed, and it compliments the dining experience, i recommend sugata's to everyone, it gets packed pretty quick on weekends but they do take reservations so take advantage of that service.
I have been a regualr at Sugata for years now. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is consistently good. It is a traditional japanese restaurant that caters very much to a loyal local crowd. It is not the cheapest but it is consistenyl good. I often sit at the bar and the various chefs (father and son) are always a good source for what is the best for the day.
Excellent food. Their dragon rolls are very very good. Undon is excellent..it is the real japanese cooking. The price is more on a higher range. But it is worth to try and enjoy the good food. This is a family own busines, great service with a friendly smile. I will go back there again.
I have bleeding eczema sores all over my hands, which I used to examine a plate of old fish served to me at Sugata. The supposedly fresh fish had the texture OLD ceviche, and a strong odor of Vinegar. When I returned the plate, the Chef loudly berated me while eating the plate of returned fish, he then served the rest of the plate to other patrons in the restaurant. I sure hope I do not have any diseases.
