Friendly service, excellent food. The servers were amazingly accommodating of our dining needs; I was cold and wanted to move to the middle of the restaurant on a busy night and my dining companion has dietary issues which requires a great amount of interrogation before he can order The wait staff was friendly and laid back. We ordered an eclectic mix of sushi, salad, soup and appetizer - all of which was superb. The fish melted in my mouth, the salad dressing popped with perfect flavor and my companion's dish was spiced exactly to his liking. Our experience was validated when we overheard a diner behind us declare that his california roll was the best he had ever had (and he added, he ate quite a bit of california rolls). We highly recommend Genki, just dress warmly in the winter months.
This is a favorite Japanese Restaurant. They use high-quality and fresh seafood. The food is regularly excellent. I'm a repeat customer. It is places like this that make eating out a pleasant experience.
This restaurant is very Americanized. It's got neon lights across its sushi bar and the overall lighting is too bright to be considered an authentic Japanese restaurant. The food is good but it's a bit pricey than other places I have been to ($16 for chicken teriyaki). Their service is average. Overall, I didn't like the atmosphere but the food is alright. I have nothing against this restaurant but it just didn't fit my taste--I am very picky as you can tell.
Genki is a great place to go for a solid, fresh, healthy sushi. It's at a busy intersection but accssible, fast easy parking if you just need to drop in. Staff is great, fast and friendly. Most importantly, sushi is fresh and excellent. Great value.
Why we love Genki: consistently great - I don't think we have ever had anything bad there; friendly sushi chefs; the presentation is beautiful - unlike a lot of sushi places which are so basic; fast and healthy - we always feel good after eating there; daily specials; a little bit of free stuff at the sushi bar is always a nice topper. Ambiance is nothing fancy but that's not why we go there. Highly recommended.
This resturant is consistantly the best! I have been there 6-7 times. The place dosn't look like much, and the area is lousy but they make it work some how. The chef is very fast on making the sushi and there's almost always a spot at the bar, the tempura is great too! I met friends and more than friends there and my tradition is to give the sushi chef a beer after dinner. Unfourtunatly, it's right on San Pablo, and also right across from the gas station so there's a lot of traffic.
All in all it is a great place to go for a first date, birthday, New Years, etc.
