absolutely ABYSMAL service from cold, unfriendly staff: My wife and I had Sunday breakfast here as we were guests of the Hotel Mac, and found the highly stressed and unfriendly staff to detract greatly from what could have been a pleasant morning meal. No coffee or water served for over half an hour after being seated, folks who were seated after us had their orders taken before us, were served, ate, and left before we had barely tucked into our meals. We had to ask for coffee refills and this seemed to stress out the servers even more. After waiting patiently for the bill and finally politely asking for it, we were told by the server that he had not yet prepared it. Then he came back later to say that it was prepared, but he did not have time to pick it up from the counter and asked us to go to the counter ourselves to pay-unbelievable. I got the uncomfortable feeling that the local regulars here are treated much better than visitors, not a good business model. Food was tasty, but they were out of salmon and they did not tell us this until well after we had placed our orders, and the huevos rancheros had no beans, out of that too. Good thing I'm not a vegetarian, as they substituted chorizo for beans without asking. No apologies offered at all. We will not be back, absolutely one of the WORST restaurant service experiences we've encountered in many years in the Bay Area.
Little Louie's is a great place no matter if you're on the run or have time to sit and eat... Food is delicious , and the service is quick. Hearty food, and real ingredients... I have been back there numerous times and highly recommend this place. Try to avoid the 12 o'clock rush during the week though...
The owner, Raquel, iknows good quality food. She uses the best organic produce from Berkeley as well as uses fresh Semifredi's bread, who's California sourdough is known across the country. The main dining room feels like you just stepped into an bright Italian costal bistro. There is even a lovely patio ideal for relaxing with a cappuccino on a sunny day. This place is a hidden treasure with great food and atmosphere.
...if I actually lived in the town. I was a guest for 3 days at the Hotel Mac across the street, and LL's provided free breakfast each morning. I always ate there around 10:00am, after the busiest crowds had left so the service was very good. The fruit, danish and coffee were first-rate and the atmosphere was nice, you really felt like you were in a cafe in a small community/village where most people knew each other. Recommended for anyone visiting the area. They also had a good menu of fresh-made cold and hot sandwiches.
Okay depending on when you go, you might have to wait in line, but it is well worth the wait, they make your food as you order it, they have a nice patio in the back, also a nice relaxed place, great to take a date when being on a budget, must see for ones self just how good this little place is in Point Richmond.
