Italian Colors Restaurant, Oakland

Food has gone up a notch here; recent dinner was the best we've had since we started coming here 4 yrs ago. Wonderful salads, excellent pasta. Gnocchi was sensational. Hidden up a narrow driveway leading to a tiny strip mall right beside the Union 76 station.

You can't get comfortable if the service is anything but excellent. I was both impressed with our waiter and the other members of staff who helped us out. With owner in the background, the restaurant hums along with a satisfying feeling that everyone is being attended to, but not fussed over.

My wife and I had gone out for dinner there and the food was incredible. My wife had ordered the plain pepperoni pizza and i had ordered some pasta. The service was friendly, honest, on the ball with filling back up your glasses of what your drinking. The prices was quite reasonable. I highly recommend this resturant if your looking for good italian food

I have eaten in this restaurant many times and the food is always excellent. The staff is courteous and efficient. They offer accommodations for large groups. They are located in a small center with a lot of free parking. Reservations are always a good idea as they are very busy on the weekends.

What a relaxing experience we had there. The guitar player music can be heard throughout the room and out on the patio. I had a mango Cosmo and fried calamari for the first course. The grilled tomato, feta and fried onion rings salad is delicious. The gnocchi in a creamy marinara sauce is great. We shared the main course of a 12 oz. rib eye steak. Desert was an out of the world blueberry - apricot cobbler. I will be back soon.

Italian Colors is great spot for lunch, dinner or for just having a cocktail or two. In good weather, if you wish, you can dine out on the covered patio. The menu contains many staples plus daily lunch and dinner specials, featuring from simple to some very intricate, imaginative dishes that cover the spectrum from fresh seafood to meat, pasta and salads. The food is fresh and everything, for the most part, is well prepared and beautifully served. Colors pizza's are excellent,varied and made to order. No frozn pizza's here. The wine list is extensive and varies from domestic to imports. The well appointed, curved bar lends itself to good conversation and on any given evening you'll find it filled with people smiling, laughing and drinking. Don't be afraid to sit down amoungst the crowd because before you know it, if you wish, you'll become part of the group. The restaurat patrons vary from young to old and at any given time one will also see many familes dining there. The staff is knowledgable, helpful and can give the diner an excellent overview of the menu specials and staples. Many of them have been there for a number of years and greet returning diners like old friends. At times when the restaurant is crowded the level of service sometimes will taper off a bit, but not to the point of diner frustration. I would reccommend Italian Colors in Montclair to anyone who enjoys good, fresh food, wonderful presentation, and a warm, friendly atmosphere. I've been dining at Colors for several years and have no qualms in taking friends or business associates there for lunch or dinner. Parking can, at times, be a drawback - but not enough to forgo my dining there.

Italian Colors is my favorite Italian restaurant! I've been going there for the better part of a decade and they've yet to disappoint me. I heartily recommend it! The food is marvelous! Don't expect tiny portions presented in an trendy manner. While the presentation is very nice, the portions are as substantial as they are flavorful and fresh. Suggestions: any of the pastas, the Linguine and Clams, the Chopped Salad and their desserts are wonderful! Their wine list is above average but it's OK to bring your own wine from your cellar as well. There's a nominal corkage fee, of course. Enjoy!!!

Great neighborhood site with outdoor dining. Food can be ordinary, but never bad and there are a couple of great items on the menu, the avocado papaya crab salad comes to mind. Service is always friendly and professional - a rarity in this area - and there is cool live guitar music from Thursday to Saturday.

The food is merely o.k. The portions are hearty, but not a lot of imagination goes in to the preparation. On the otherhand, the service is great and kids are always welcome. It's a very easy unpretentious restaurant.
