Lets be honest....This place is not good. It is basically cheap chinese food. I got a 6 dollar amatuer cocktail. I would not waste a night going here. We pent 70 bucks and left unhappy....the Walnut Creek location is a no-go.
Actually, this is more like French Vietnamese fusion... regardless, it is one of the best fusion food restos I've ever been to. They retain most of their Asian taste, very fresh and delicious.... try their coconut milk dishes, although be careful if you are not used to it.
My co-workers have been going here for years...finally today I went to eat here with 11 of my co-workers and it was GREAT!!! I had the Grilled Pork Chop and it was soooo good!! I tried food off of others plates and everything was equally as good. I will for sure go back!! Also we faxed in our order we sat down and we instantly got our food...great service!!!!
If you're expecting traditional Vietnamese food you will be disappointed indeed. This is fusion food, for lack of a better name, and it is fabulous! The atmosphere is great; massive tables, lots of windows, and the energy here abounds. Sure, it can be a bit hectic but consider the location. This is downtown so get with the program and stick to the types of food items that the Vietnamese excell with. I'm not going to spell it out here for you (stir fry beef! calamari! vegetables!) but if you know a little something about this type of food you're sure to find a hit.
So service staff don't get to keep their tips?!? absolutely unforgivable, I'll never set foot here again, and am changing my review from 2 stars to 1.
They seem to have lost sight a good long while ago of what real Vietnamese cuisine is all about and are complacently cooking mediocre food for easy to please crowds with apparently undiscriminating palates, surely much cheaper and easier this way. Food lacks true Vietnamese finese and character--not authentic and subsequently not popular with local Vietnamese families. No one in Vietnam eats like this, except perhaps Western tourists who fear street hawkers and local eateries. Too many uniform dishes with same bland soupy yellow sauce. Tasteless seafood. Overcooked noodles. Dining room is VERY loud, not a relaxing or romantic atmosphere at all. Service staff aloof and indifferent, bordering on rude--a direct result of not seeing any of their tips I imagine... But amazingly they continue to pull 'em in with inauthentic food and bad service. The clueless masses can have Le Cheval, I am happy as a clam eating with local Vietnamese families at authentic Chinatown and San Antonio neighborhood joints with no long lines, amazing coffee, abundant, pungent fish sauce, chicken bones in my pho, warm hospitality, and low prices.
