Bistro Jeanty, Yountville

we were visiting napa on a cold and rainy weekend and drop in for lunch. the food definitely hit the spot. we all started with their signature tomato cream soup with a puff pastry top to warm up. we then shared an order of escargo and one of the days special, fried smelt fish. the smelt was perfectly fried and the dipping sauce gave it just the right kick. for our main course, the pork chop was the standout dish. it had a nice crust with the inside meat still super juicy. for dessert, the standout was another special for day, raisin bread pudding with rum raisin icecream. all i can say is that i had to order one to take home with me.

Start off with the Creme de Tomate en Croute (tomato cream soup baked in a flaky puff pastry). Yum! I order it every time I go. My husband likes the Coq au vin, and I like the Sole Meuniere (sole, mashed potatoes in a lemon caper butter sauce) . I've tried other entrees and have always been satisfied. I'm sure there are misses, but I haven't experienced it yet. We went after a friend recommended it, and have gone back many times. Make reservations. It gets crowded. Good to go here after a day of wine tasting -- take a quick walk up and down the charming street.

We were very impressed with this charming little french bistro... Very unpretentious which is suprising for the area. Our group ordered the quiche and the salad nicoise, we highly recommend both!

Bistro Jeanty is one of the best restaurants in Napa Valley. The Tomato Soup is the best I've Ever had and the puff pastry on top is a amazing addition. I've tried different entrees like the pork chops, the cheese quiche, and various others and have not been disappointed, but one of the best things they have there(and one of the cheapest!!) is the Beef Stew. It might sound a little plain for a french restaurant but it is far from that. The beef is amazingly tender and the mash potatoes are delicious..if you try it you won't be disappointed. It can get a bit busy but for those that dont have a reservation they have a communal table(table sits about 20) that people can have the choice of sitting at with others who did not want to wait longer for a private table. The wait staff is very knowledgable about questions you might have about the food and the wines that might be good with your dinner. As I said earlier the restuarant is one of the best and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the Napa Valley.
