I've read good reviews and decided to save myself a trip to Berkeley Bowl where I am going once in awhile for sushi grade fish and other good things. The place is tiny but has a lot of interesting things. Almost no parking, unless you park at neighbor business parking. They had 4 different kind of sushi grade fish, looked not bad. I asked for 1/4 - 1/2 pound of each, owner showed me nice piece I really liked. . When I picked wasabi, ginger, sea weed salad, other things my fish was already packed. I wanted to surprise my wife with sashimi dinner. I myself was very surprised to discover at home 4 different pieces of tail. The fish I brought home was noy sashimi. I hate dishonesty, I would accept 1, even 2 so - so pieces, but paying $15-$25/pound for tails? Bye-bye Diablo oriental. Byers beware, don't trust, watch.
Love this store! I love it when I send friends there to shop for Asian food items and they come back to tell me how surprised they are that one little store carries so many items. Everything you need for an Asian meal -- from the ingredients to the dishes, chop sticks, cookbooks, etc. The owners put great effort into making the broad variety and top quality items available in their store. They even carry fresh fish!
