The food is great. I love the old fashion service. They have the best koolaid this side of heaven. They are rather slow so don't be in a hurry when ordering. Everyone in Vallejo that love Soul Food know this place as a land mark. It has been said the food was better when the mother was cooking but you won't get any complaints from me. I absolutely love everything on the menu oh except for the chittlings which I am not a big fan of but if I was I am sure they would be off the hook. House of Soul a Vallejo land mark.
I've been to this business several times, The Food is ok It's not the best Soul Food I have ever tasted They do need a Big tip on making that DryYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Bland Corn Bread taste eatible. The Lady at the Cashier is very pleasant but the Big Guy that I'm assuming is the boss is very Non chalant no Customer Service skills, and very Dry just like the Corn bread. But overall It's Ok even though they need to work on their Prices. The prices are Highway Robbery but what really out weighs eveything is the fact that the Ribs, Short ribs, Ham Hocks,Rice & Gravy, and Mac N Cheese are Excellent no Doubt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their food sucks! For it to be soul food the mac and cheese sure does taste like a white person made it (no offense) it's just bland and tasteless! I was expecting it to be tasty and cheesy instead I was upset that I didn't just go to KFC for it!
My husband got the pork chops and didn't even finish it. HE EATS EVERYTHING! We were highly disappointed and wished we never spent the ridiculous $40 on this crap.
But I must say, the people are very nice and even took the time to damn near recite the entire menu for us over the phone, which we really appreciated. They of course, forgot to mention that their food sucks!
DONT BOTHER! Go to A Heavenly Taste on Redwood instead.
this is the best food ever in this area where there is not a lot of soul food and if there was (which some are trying to be) this is still up there with the best. the inside is not all that but for home cooking like mama gave you ,and mama soul gives you, o yes she is there, i have been eating here for 20 years i could eat here every day and the service is outtttttt standingggggggggggggggg yum
