In for dinner last evening, first time. The Best I have eaten for Italian. Great service and helpful staff. Nice food selection. I requested an item not on menu and was quickly replied 'Of course we can do that'. That alone was nice to get a very personalized dish prepared. The house suggested a particular wine and it was also perfect. Food quality here is superb and I plan to ge each evening while in the area. Thanks folks. Well done.
Although the outside look of the restaurant doesn't tell you what it offers...but it's a good place I wouldn't mind coming back very often. Food is very good so far ...(been in the resto like 6 times)There's a friendly vibe and service I would say excellent. I like a lot their bite size calamari...perfectly fried and not drenched much in batter or flour. The side of polenta in the dish is creamy and almost like an aperitif (less the alcohol)in itself.Definitely, can't wait for my 7th visit and a great place to bring out of town guests!
Being a local I find it hard to find great Italian food at reasonable prices. Well this place is a hit in my family. They make you feel welcome and comfortable. The menu is full of different choices and they are always ready to change anything to make your meal just the way you want it. My family and I love it, from the Calamari in tomato sauce to the Veal Scaloppini. We will keep returning to this Great Restaurant.
As a second generation Italian American, growing up eating grandma's Southern Italian cooking, many of the ingredients grown in her garden, I'm very critical of Italian restaurant cuisine. On a visit to Wine Country, the hotel staff recommended nearby La Strada. After a day of tasting fine wines, anything less than well prepared Italian would have been disappointing. La Strada exceeded our expectations. The fresh bread and garlic/oil dip was great. The salad dressing was a bit bland, though. However, the pasta and light sauces were exceptional. If we ever get back to Wine Country, we'll be sure to re-visit La Strada.
This place is a disappointment, given the proximity of great Italian cuisine in Napa. The dishes, while showing a bit of imagination, are executed without enthusiasm, and sauces are heavy handed. I get the feeling that there is not a single Italian among the kitchen staff or management, and that the menu is largely mimicry by people who don't truly understand Italian food. The ambiance is pleasant, if somewhat cheesy, and waitstaff was friendly and efficient. On the whole, however, unless you really don't care what you are eating, drive on...
