Fujian Restaurant, Walnut Creek

I have come to Fujian since 1999. I would rate the quality of food A, I would rate the appearance an A, I would rate Spencer (owner) an A, but i would rate the decor a D+. I would rate the price a B-.

Fujian is the best sushi restaurant in the Bay Area. I like to sit at the bar best because Spencer (sushi chef) lets us know whats really good and is a wealth of sushi knowledge and creativity. His wife Helen is adorable and you feel like you are walking into their home. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. It can get louder on a Friday or Saturday night because people love to celebrate and have a good time while enjoying great food. If you are an old fuddie duddie than I recommend going during the week or sitting at the bar. It is a restaurant for all people and all occasions.

I love to come here for lunch. I love to eat the Soy Paper hand roll. The hand roll is just so yummy! its sweet, yet spicy, and also has nice crab in the middle. I come here for lunch just to eat 2 or 3 of these each day! I would also recommend the sashimi salad. I used to live in San Diego and they had some down their. I haven't found a good restaruant with a sashimi salad until now! This is a great and yummy restaurant!

This place has that kind of feel, the feel of a really being in Japan and eating the unique type of cuisine they have to offer. Fujian, to me, feels like that. This place has fresh fish, great service, and a great environment. I went there when I overheard some people saying it was a great restaurant at a bar. I decided to check it out on yahoo and read some negative reviews about the restaurant here on Yahoo. But, I decided to go over to the restaurant one night with my family and I am so glad I did. We never had such great Japanese food! We ordered some tempura for start and it was nice. The waitress was great. They gave us free edamame as we waited for our food. Then the sushi rolls started to come in and boy it was great. I loved the Volcano, Kendall, and the Super Dragon roll. They were my favorite. My family agreed with me opinion about this restaurant. I am making sure to come to this restaurant everytime I'm in town, because i live in San Francisco, and its quite a long trip to come to Walnut Creek. My summary of this place: The food, service, environment is all A+. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great Japanese food. I highly disagree with these negative reviews about this restaurant. In fact, what they said about the service, food, and other stuff, I received the exact opposite during my time at this place. It can be a little noisy at some points, but you'd expect that because the place is crowded most of the time. Well, I am definitely putting this restaurant on my list of all-time favorite restaurants, and i recommend it to everybody.Trust me, you will have a fabulous time at this restaurant.

I came to this restaurant last week after a friend recommended it to me. The sushi here is great and my co-worker ordered a lunch box special. The quantity of the food was great for the price. I expected the food to be average after seeing the low price of the food, but the food was terrific. The sushi is what makes this restaurant great though. Never tasted anything like this. The sushi names also have creative names,too. The service, though, could be a little better. It wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad either. Anyways, I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to get great food at a great low price. I'm sure I'll be going back there again.

Went a few weeks ago out of interest. Food was terrible, service was horible, music was awful! People suddenly started screaming and yelling, my daughter got scared and began crying so we had to leave. I dont think i'll ever return there again.

Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. Good thing made reservations or wouldn't have a seat. Noise kept coming from the bar. Got so bad we couldn't hear anything. Sushi chef got into drinking contest with customer. Somebody broke a glass was so drunk. People started hollaring and shouting and drinking. It got to be a real bar scene. Asked the waitress if this is unusual. She said it happens every Saturday night. Not the place to go if you want to hear yourself. By the way, the food is lousy. I had stir fried soba noodles with chicken and vegetables. The chicken was fatty. The birthday boy had teriyaki chicken. It was the same fatty chicken except it was barbecued so it was a little better except the broccoli was ice cold. I tried the stir fried squid. Was rubbery and too salty. The combination tempura was a little better. The shrimp tasted okay except the batter wasn't fried enough so it was still pale and mushy. Do not recommend unless you like to get drunk at the bar.
