i have been going to Emil Vlilla;s Hivkery Pif firstly as a baby in my mother;s arms at their no closed place on telegrasph ave in oakland,ca. Then in the in walnut creek,ca and concord,ca and oakland in the rockridge center which is closed too. I always order the center cut long ends ribs, salad with french dressing and a toasted hamburger bun, also french fries and brown original sause heavy. also another toasted bun, Hey, i only have breakfest at 5:30 am so im hungury. Sometimes, a bowl of ice cream or a piece of berry pie.I love the Hickery Pit and by the way Emil Villa was a cuban. Their ribs and brown sause are cuban. mummmmm...The food and deserts are great !!!!!!!!!! Great service too !!!!
Step back to the 50’s, about the same time the food was precooked.
Place was decorated like a restaurant from the 50s, but poorly maintained with tears in the seats. Ordered their Famous Emil ribs, cooked from a old family recipe learned from the Indians according to the menu. Ribs looked like they were cooked yesterday, so dried out that even the BBQ sauce on the side couldn’t revive it. Maybe that’s the Indian recipe for jerky, but not for ribs. Better off at Texas Roadhouse for ribs than this ancient mausoleum of bad décor and food.
Can't say anything negative.
They have been around for a long long long time.
Beautiful selection of great eats.
The service is as good as the food.
The restaurant is immaculate, which both my wife and the others in our dinnner party commented on.
They have other locations as well, but haven't been to them.
As a new Hayward resident I've just discovered Emil Villa's. I've eaten at other EVs in the Bay Area, but never this one. I've now ordered take-out twice. The ribs were as good as any of the other EVs I've been to and I've never been disappointed in EVs ribs. The service was quick and courteous, the fries were delicious, the salad was fresh and crisp, and I like their Italian dressing. While I tend to be an afficionado of fine dining experiences, I always have and still do like EV, and I will continue to go to EV in Hayward. Try it... you'll like it.
The service was nice when I dined in about 3 weeks ago but this morning when I ordered breakfast for takeout, they forgot my bacon. The only reason I chose them over Denny's this morning was for the bacon. I was very disappointed. I will give it another chance though. Ive never had bad service there before.
I think they changed owners because there is a big difference in the quality of the food and level of service. If you order takeout, be sure to check your order before you leave because they always mess it up! When I spend $30+ on ribs, I expect to get more than one two inch tall container of sauce without paying extra. I gave them three tries, no more. Last time, the ribs were undercooked and cold.
