AWFUL Experience! The service from the Manager to the hostess to the waiter (Larry) was so dissapointing. We showed up for our 7:45 reservation and were met with excuses of why we would have to wait for the table. After 45 minutes and asking for the manager (he only came over after we asked twice and was obviously not wanting to make our experience any better)we were offered a table and told that we would b e sitting next to a loud presentation - just warning us. We asked to be seated at another table a we were celebrating my birthday and there was a pregnant woman wiht us as well. We were then sat in Laryy's section and his first impression was horrible by telling us that because of the large party that night there were no specials and the chef had not created anything off the menu. At this point we almost left but thought the food would be worth the hassle. There were 4 of us and we each ordered a salad, no one finished theirs because they just were not great. All of our entrees were just warm, not even hot and my pasta was mushy and too potent with the citrus. We exoected so much after hearing about this place for so long and from the second we stepped in the door we were let down. We will never give it another chance. The bill drama is a whole different story that again involves the non-showing up manager, the hostess that forgets and us sitting waiting again for over 20 minutes. We got there at 7:40 and did not walk out until 10:30. That is almost 3 hours for awful food and service.
Absolutely fabulous as usual - miss Larry (R.I.P) tremendously - I mean, you just cant go wrong with this place...... its one of the best-evers - Great service, great wine, great food - GREAT PLACE!!!!!
For the price the food was awful and the slooooooooooow service was even worse. Three blocks away was a Jack in the Box, should have gone there. My wife went to the lady's room and there was no toilet seat paper or hot water. When we left the cars were parked so close together we had to wait 20 minutes before the valet could move some cars so we could get out. It was our 60th wedding anniversary so I was hoping for more. The waiter did offer a free desert but when the employees came to out table they sang happy birthday by mistake. Next time no thank you.
After dining there on three separate ocassions I'm still sratching my head as to what style I would classify Postino. It sounds italian, right? Anyway, great California style cuisine with a quirky and eclectic atmosphere. I personally prefer week nights, a little less crowded and the wait staff is a little more personable. If you like caesar salad, you must try theirs... its vertical! And they encourage you to use your hands. A little pricey, but still my new favorite for fine dining in Lafayette now that the food has seriously gone downhill at the Duck Club.
For the price, this place was not worth it! I went there for a wedding reception, and dinner took 3 HOURS...45 minutes for the salad to show up! COME ON! And they only had one lady serving 28 people, pretty stupid! They knew the tip was impounded in the cost, so they took their sweet time. The ribs were pretty good though, it could have been because I was starving when they finally arrived!
As one reviewer noted, the steaks are awfully gristly (after three tries). Everything else is very good, however, and the wine list is top notch.
The dessert menu is awfully good and the service is generally good too.
The building has a unique history, andn net we say it's worth going. Just don't get a steak.
This is a dress up, classy place to go with friends and lovers. The food on my five visits there has always been great. Last night I had the Paparadell which was delicious. We had a very nice Pinot Grigio. The fresh bread and herbed butter felt homey. The calamari appetizer is always good too, not greasy or chewy. The raviolis are a good choice as well.
Postinos is soooooo delicious! We went there for our anniversary and had the most delicious and romantic meal!! The chef's are incredible and our waiter (ask to be in Larry's section) was awesome! We were treated like royalty and I looooved the food and the ambiance. 5 stars for Postino! It is highly recommended by this restaraunt carnisoure!
