One bad experience, for sure. The Easter brunch will cause a Christian to convert to Judaism. The ambiance was on life support or dying. The roast beef cut like with a hatchet was good. The rest was extremely poor.
Go Somewhere Else.....Anywhere Else. I promise you, I'm doing you a favor by telling you this in advance. Lousy service, bad, bad, 60's decor and the bad service and decor can only be topped by the really bad, bad, food.
We had crab cakes and salmon. The crab cakes were 'shrimp cakes' not to mention bland and rubbery - oh and did I mentioned overpriced? The salmon was overcooked, burnt, and the dill sauce had the weirdest aftertaste. The baked potato came wrapped in foil should have been served as potato chips it was so dry. The 'fresh' vegetables were frozen.
In a last ditch effort, I ordered coffee, the one thing you shouldn't be able to screw up. It was burnt.
As a former food server, I like to leave a large tip whenever I eat out, but this time I simply took the tip and used it to pay for the bottle of Tums it's going to take to get over tonights meal.
Overall the food was good... we had the salmon, new york, and my sister had the sole...we went there on a friday night and it was busy but they accomadeted us pretty well. I agree with the earlier comment the decor needs some attention, but its pretty cute in their own little way. after dinner we went to karoake ...and what a blast..there was a guy there named matt that was terrific that ran the show. the drinks werent weak and they werent gasoline strong... just enough for us. well definetly go there again for the food and the light entertainment
My brother and I stopped by for dinner after 18 holes of golf, and OH MAY GOD, the food was way over cook and the prices are at lest 30% to high. The decor is really bad 60's.
I had the prawns that came with smashed potatoes and carrots. All tasted like they had been cooked two days earlier and then popped into the microwave. My brother had a soup that was along the same lines.
The clam chowder was just about off, it must have been at least a couple of days old.
Now folks, the Dino's in Fremont is MUCH better, but this one in Castro Valley needs to be closed down and re-done and put under new management. This restaurant is a Gordon Ramsey nightmare.
My advance, STAY AWAY!!!
The good news is the service was fine but I could tell that even the waitress was ashamed of the food, and by the way, no refills on sodas
