Aged for almost 30 years in the Napa Valley... Since its beginnings as a local gathering spot over 29 years ago, Mustards Grill has blossomed into a destination for all who appreciate memorable food, superb wines and a warm welcome. Mustards food is Chef/Owner Cindy Pawlcyn's mix of American regional dishes with global influences. The list of Way Too Many Wines represents the best from appellations throughout California and the New World. Mustards is an American Grill, featuring flavors from around the globe. The wood-burning grill produces such favorites as Cindy's famous Mongolian Pork Chop, chipotle -rubbed Quail, and the 1/2 pound Niman Ranch hamburger. The oakwood smoker fills the restaurant with aromas of BBQ baby back ribs and tea-smoked Peking duck. Specialties include Seared Ahi Tuna on sesame crackers and Crispy Calamari tossed with curried slaw. The eclectic wine list features hard to find gems from California, the American Northwest, & South America.
Mustards has been one of our favorite places to dine for the last 15 years. The people we've taken throughout the years love the place it's one of the places many want to go to again on return trips. Make a reservation...or go at off times because it's a really popular place. There's really nothing I wouldn't order again, but we always have to get the calamari.
hello my name is maria garcia i would like to comment on my first visit to the musterd grill with some friends of mine we all work at the calistoga ranch resort and we were very excited to go try out this resturant first of all i would like to let you know the food was great and we all enjoyed it. But the service was not as expected fist of all we had looked up the menu on line so we could be ready to order and enjoy are time there but we would have liked to hear what was youre specials and t that didnt happen with the waitress that attended us she would not check on us frequently to make sure we didnt need anything. I also ordered a drink and it had an ant in it. one of my friend had a baby and she had ordered a second drink and it took the waittres about 5min to get her the drink my friend was not very happy and she was ready to leave. i hope you can consider my comment i look forward to going back to the mustad grill.
I recently visited Napa Valley for the first time at the ripe age of 26, and I was amazed throughout the whole trip. First the beautiful wineries we stopped along the way and then passing a small but delightful Mustard's Grill. I am in the restaurant industry so I know a great place when I see one. The moment we walked in the place glowed with class. The staff were kind and willing to answer any questions we had. The Service and presentation of the food were excellent. The most important part of the experience was that the food was outstanding. On my next trip to Napa, Mustard's Grill will sure to be a stop I will make again.
What can I say, of course, make reservations and GO! Last year, a very close friend gifted us (a group of her close friends) with a limo ride to shop at the outlets and dine at Mustards. There were nine of us, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Most of us had the Fish Special that day, it was delicious. You have to try the infamous appetizer -Shoestring Onionrings. The price of the food is moderate, so, if you live on a budget, it is well worth the sacrifice to put a little money aside when you can, just for the dining experience. I give 2 thumbs up. Don't forget to make reservations, it is well worth the time. The service was great too. It is located on the main highway in the Wine Country. We made a day of it and shopped til we dropped when we finished. Mustards Grill is great.
We started out with calamari. The slaw with a nice ginger/curry twist was good. The calamari wasn't perfectly cooked, but it was good and we ate it all! Then the salads were a good size and one of us had a YUMMY sweet yam soup.. It was so good we passed it around. The duck in the confet was perfectly done, but the butternut rissoto was a tad underdone. The cheesburgers were super, and good sized. The quail was a tad salty, but totally smokey and delicios. The onions were carmelized perfectly, and the cabernet sauce was perfect. Dessert didn't disappoint... the apple crisp was just the right mix of tart and sweet with a lovely sweet crunch. The ice cream topping perfected the dish. The creme brulee' was a tad small, but the container held the a wonderful light delight of vanilla tinted custard. The carmelized top was crisp and perfect.
Our waitress was delightful and attentive enough without overwhelming us with her attention.
I will go back.. and order the quail
I find it interesting that 3 different individuals told me their favorite restaurant in napa valley is mustards. I had high expectations and sure enough, I was not disappointed at all. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time and the manager didn't fail in coming to our table to apologize before sending a complimentary appetizer, that is quite nice! Their popular pork chop proved to be exceptionally good and my crab cakes were delicious. Ambience is unpretentious for glitzy St. Helena. I was thinking this is a great place to have dinner with a group of friends who enjoy good food and wine. Highly recommended.
Have heard about Mustard's for many years, and finally got to check it out last month. It lived up to its excellent reputation. Nice casual ambiance, with a lively bar area, serving drinks to all the folks who were dutifully waiting for their seats. Meal was great, 3 of us shared ribs, salmon, and pasta dishes that were all excellent. Very nice wine list. A great place to visit if you're in the Napa area.
I was HUGELY disappointed by the service of this restaurant after I had heard so many great things about it. We went without reservations and were told we would have to wait 45 minutes. No problem, it is a busy and popular spot. We waited an hour where other people who arrived after us, without reservations, were seated before us. After being ignored by the hostess and guy in a black shirt (manager?) we finally managed to get the black shirted fellow's attention only to have him tell us we would have to wait another 45 minutes. No apologies, just some attitude, and then complete ignorance. We left and found a far better restaurant with much better service. Obviously Mustards Grill doesn't care about a couple of customers when they have 10 other people waiting for tables, no big loss, but I have never experienced such a lack of respect for a restaurant's potential customers. I would recommend eating elsewhere, but if you must, make a reservation, perhaps then they will treat you like a human instead of like the stuff the evolutionary ladder stands on. Mustards? More like Bastards.
