Don Perico Restaurant
Located in the heart of downtown Napa, this quaint stucco restaurant serves authentic Mexican fare. The ample dining area is comfortable but a little dark. The amiable waitstaff keeps the chips coming even when the restaurant is crowded. The shaded patio, with its marble-topped tables and lawn-style chairs, is wonderful for people-watching. The menu features gargantuan burritos, a variety of enchiladas, and several combination plates as well as a decent selection of carnitas and seafood. You will find a full bar with great margaritas and a nice selection of beers.
Don Perico's restaurant is a great place to gather and enjoy a delicious Mexican style meal. I have enjoyed the fare at this casual establishment for many years. I am particularly found of the Chile Verde but a plate of very rich and satisfying enchilada rancheros is often my choice.
The staff at Don Perico's is always quick to attend to my family's dining needs and has always served up as much attention to our comfortable stay as the kitchen has to our meals. The outside dining area is a real pleasure in the mild summer months.
As compared to some Napa Valley restaurants, you can expect the wait time to vary from nearly immediate to 5 minutes.
Life comes at you fast. Take the time when in Napa to enjoy some excellent food and some down home service at Don Perico's.
My family and I used to enjoy going to Don Perico's, but the last few time's we've gone, I've been very disappointed.
Here's the way it was on our visit June 3, 2007.
We were seated right away, but, despite very few customers, it took a long time for the waiter to come take our order.
The waiter was some young man with little or no training. He made no suggestions, didn't offer us any upgrades, nor did he offer us any dessert. And despite asking for our check, he took his time in giving our bill to us.
The worst part of it all, we received no thank you for our patronage!
My daughter's food was passable. I ordered the chicken tacos, but the meat was more of a mystery...very tough, and certainly not white meat. I hope there's no cats missing in that neighborhood.
The worse situation was that the place was overrun by flys! Not very sanitary.
Napa is graced with some great Mexican restaurants, and Don Perico's used to be among those. But I will never again eat there.
