Generally, a weird waitress, awful food in a pleasant setting? Strange!
Specifically, watch out for the quesadillas, their quesadillas are simply horrid.
I have never left restaurant food before (and have the waistline to prove it), or even sent it back to the kitchen, but there is a first time for everything.
This looked to be a nice, clean authentic restaurant; just minutes away from the local movie theater. I simply ordered the cheese quesadillas and water (but they brought me chicken quesadillas). They have a lot of seating capacity, with many tables; but only one other patron was in there who was already eating a salad; that should have been a clue. So, I was surprised that it took twenty minutes, from when I ordered, for the food to reach my table.
But the wait was the good part, the actual food was just horrible. It had a weird strong cheddar cheese taste, was barely warm and dripped orange oil. The flour tortilla looked like it just came out of a plastic bag. It definitely was not heated on either an open grill or even a fry pan. Actually, it looked like the flour tortilla, cheeses and chicken had been sandwiched together and microwaved!
I tried to get the waitress's attention, she had to see the seriousness on my face, she just looked through me and smiled, until I motioned my check request, so I could leave. She wanted to wrap up my food which only had two bites removed. I told her I could not eat it and mentioned the 'cheddar cheese.' She said intensely that they 'mix their cheeses.' I mentioned the orange oil dripping from it, she said, 'yes that's the cheese!' I guess they do not know real cheese is made from dairy and does not drip slimy orange oil.
I again asked for the bill. She did not apologize or suggest any other accommodation, just a snotty, 'you don't have to pay!' The tone was like I did something wrong? I did not know what to do, so I left a hefty 'guilt' tip and promptly left the store, crossed the street to a Peet's Coffee to get a drink to wash the cheddar/oil flavors out of my mouth.
Honestly, the place looks adorable, cute name, it appears clean, but my food was gross and to me inedible. I will never return. If they cannot even make a easy Mexican cheese sandwich, or even buy decent cheese, what would I trust them to make? In the future, I'll just keep on walking.
