I love, love this place! It reminds me of my mom's home cooked meals. Everything is fresh. My son loves the Agedashi Tofu. It's very reasonable for a japanese restaurant and good quality food. The sushi is so fresh it melts in your mouth. I go there almost every month .For me it's the best japanese restaurant ever!
We went today and tried their $7 bento box: chicken Teriyaki, rice, salad w/ miso dressing, tempura veggies, 1 pc tempura shrimp, pc of fruit, and 4 California rolls. Delish!
4/2011 Update - I took away a star b/c I don't like the chicken. It's a thigh all chopped up, with the skin and all the fat intact.
was very disappointed .... felt misguided by the reviews. Friends came over from san jose to try this sushi place ... the chicken teriyaki for kids was dry and tasteless - my kids did not eat it. the quality of sushi was poor the sashimi was a huge disappointment - the raw fish was breaking up and the center of the octopus was semi frozen ... felt ripped off! peopple who have raved about this restaurant must try out other far better sushi joints in fremont. sorry - will never go back there!
Kabuki is the best kept secret in Fremont! Try the Kabuki Box (Chicken Ter) and you won't be dissapointed.
Yes, the place is not one of the plastic sushi joints where they scream some unintelligle words at you as you enter, but they do greet you with respect and put some very excellent, hot, fresh, and reliable food on the table at a very reasonable price.
We have tried other places in Fremont and the South Bay and will always return to our wonderfull Kabuki in Fremont, thank you for working so hard to make our dinning experience so grand!

Kabuki is a humble little restaurant. If you're dining for restaurant eye-candy move along. If you're dining for tasty food, true to true-Japanese cooking (w/some Americanized dishes--teriyaki, etc.), check the place out. The owners (husband & wife) are very kind-hearted people. Rieko can run! The food is good, the interior is clean, and the kitchen is immaculate. They hail from Kyushu (Nagasaki Prefecture), and the Nagasaki Chompon is the 'real deal'.
This restaurant was the absolutely worst place I have ever been to. The service was terrible, the whole restaurant was only run by two people during the time I ate there. The quality of food did not meet up to its price and everything looked terrible. The food was not fresh and did not taste well at all. I left the place very disappointed and will never come back to this place again.
I work at this place. Trust me, we love to take care of our customers. The owners are very nice! I love the food, and preparing the plates as well :). I only work there once a week, and a busy day as well. Fridays. We have actually improved alot since I learned to be fast at what I do now.
You'll love the place.
I go to Kabuki frequently. The food is not spectacular but it is good. The service is great, the price is fantastic compared to other places that have more ambiance. Personally, would rather have good food and a good price over the ambience. The kitchen is spotless and clean. The food is fresh and healthy.
