I was surprised to read the last review about Sapporo, as I have never had anything but delightful service! They are so friendly and warm--I can't think what happened. By the way, I am white, so they aren't being nice to me because I'm not Asisan. Perhaps the fact that you expected Chinese and got Japanese had something to do with it? VERY different cuisines!
I love their sushi.
Tonight is my third night of my boyfriend being out of town and I am on an Unagi Donburi quest. The first evening I went to Sushi-Ya on Lake Chabot in Castro Valley--it was DEPLORABLE. Very expensive, lousy lousy service, very small portions and everything was dry and not that good.
Tonight I went to Sapporo--while it certainly wasn't cheap, it was well worth. Succelent eel, garnished with shredded seaweed, a wonderful fish salad, nice serving of ginger and wasabi. A delight
I will return and I urge everyone to try this place. The food is great and the people are VERY nice.
Although I would rate Ray's higher for the overall quality of sushi/sashimi, Sapporo definitely holds the upper hand when it comes to rolls! They have a huge selection of rolls. Be warned, though, that they are large and pricey. Be sure to try the Mexican burrito roll (my favorite), which involves spicy tuna.
Me and my fiancee's favorite. We go there once a week. The quality of the food (esp. the salmon) is excellent and the staff are very friendly. The place has a homey feel to it. We've tried several items on the menu and among the best are the dragon roll, salmon sashimi, katsudon, chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki and the baked mussells. Mm-mm-mmmmmm!
My family and i have been going to Sapporo's for years, their food is great and so is the staff. I love their boxed lunches and their green tea ice cream. This resturant is always one of the first ones i suggest to go to..
My family and I have been going here for several years and really only know of two other restaurants that rival the quality of Sapporo. Their restaurant lends an intimate ambiance to any dinner party and their food is simply the best!
Sapporo is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The food is always wonderful and the service, excellent, usually provided by Myumg
Hee Sue, who is most attentive to my parents and me every time we come. Tonight, she made sure we had a fine birthday celebration for my Mom. Arigato Gazimos for being one of Hayward's best.
The portions were large but a little pricey.
1- The servers were not friendly.
2-We were told to seat ourselves and had to wait approximately 5 minutes before anyone came to our table.
It was NOT crowded to say the least.
I will not be visiting them again. If the service is exceptional I usually overlook average food. If the service is poor and the food average I will spend my money elseware.
