I've Dinned there many times and the food, the staff, the ambiance are top rated. With free valet parking you can't go wrong. I would recommend this place over Ruth Crist, Bing Crosby's, or any high end resterant in Wallnut Creek all the way to San Francisco. By the way the Crab House in SF and the Stinking Rose are also owned by the same people.
Went in March 2009 to treat a visiting relative. On the first bite, my mother found a piece of glass in her food. It took her awhile to get the grit of glass out of her teeth. The waitress was trying to be helpful but the restaurant was understaffed. A woman (I guess she was staff) came out and kind of smiled and said is everything okay and just kind of wandered off. The problem wasn't the glass in the food per say, it was the attitude of the staff and management. At one point the manager accused us of putting the glass in the food. After a phone call to the manager he denied he said or implied that but still never really apologized or admitted that they did any thing wrong. We have a $50 gift certificate which we don't want to use and feel bad to give it to friends. We went for the view, not the food but didn't expect glass and an attitude.
Horrible service! I ordered coffee and never got any sugar or cream after asking for it 3 times. Then the server had the audacity to say he would tell the waiter so that he would be better next time. Not sure how that would help me THIS TIME but ok. The food wasn't all that great either...very bland. I won't go back. It is very overated!
This is truly a good get away place. I am a Seafood lover and there is nothing like enjoying good company while eating seafood with a wonderful view. Seafood lovers welcome, even if you don't like seafood, they have other entrees. The service, the food, everything is wonderful! I recommend the Dead Fish Stew. And the best part - they are open until midnight for those late night cravings!!
The atmosphere was beautiful in this restaurant. It was very romantic and the view was nice. I ordered a whole crab and to my surprise it came out sizzling in oil. I burned my fingers and had to wait at least 20 min. for the oil to cool off the crab. I did see other dishes and they looked wonderful. I hear the garlic noodles are to die for so I would definitely like to give this restaurant another shot.
Pros: nice place, decent view (it's not Golden Gate, but still beautiful on a clear night), good food.
Cons: advertised as a unique place, but it turns out it is a chain of your typical med-to-hi-end establishment.
