Applebee's, Alameda

My dad chose this restaurant for his birthday dinner. My expectation of a routine dinner at a chain restaurant was drastically changed by the good fortune of being seated in Charde Olivia M s area. She greeted us with a huge smile and the service she provided made us feel special. My dad was celebrating his 87th birthday- our meals were served exactly as ordered - and our dilema over what to order for dessert was answered by Charde and another server appearing at the table with a huge icecream sundae. They joined us in singing Happy Birthday and Charde made sure my dad was the center of attention. He looked like a little kid when he was digging into that humongous martini shaped bowl of icecream. My parents and I will be returning to Applebees purely because of the incredible personal service provided to us by Miss Charde Olivia M!!!! Thank you for making my dad feel so special on his day!!!!

We have been here 2 times in the last month. The service was horrible both times. The food was ok the first time but terrible the second time. Our server never checked to see how our food was. My burger was so black that I could not eat it. I will never go back.

Oh we had such a wonderful time here at Applebee's! We came here with Betty and John and the atmosphere was just perfect. My husband had the steak and it was very good, because I tried it. I had the ribs and was not disappointed and I can't recall what they had, but they were happy!

Applebee's food is pretty good most of the time. It's the service that's not so good. I would recommend ordering your food to go as it can be a long wait. And as someone here mentioned earlier, the staff is not completely trustworthy- I've hear simliar stories from other people.

Two weeks ago I went to Applebee's for lunch. The food was ok but the service and management was awful. I had no idea that I would be leaving a $100 tip that day. One of their staff members stole my purse and nothing has been done about it. The employee that stole my purse is still employed there and management is trying to brush it under the carpet. When I got my purse back (one week later, the exact time frame suggested by the hostess) the only thing that was missing was the money. What I got back was a purse that reeked of mildew and a brush off by management that feel I should be happy I got the purse back. They even told me where the purse was found...on their property in one of their closets that the staff uses. All I have to say is beware. I was told that people get robbed there all the time. The window area with the view is not the best area to sit at.

pretty good spot...my kids love to go there for their birthdays. The food has always been decent and the service is so-so.The worst is that They always seem unprepared for the dinner rush on fridays and saturdays (the days I usually go) and when the kitchen gets slammed,(and it will!) your food takes forever and the quality of it suffers a bit. But I dig the ambience of the place, and I love that they have some old alameda pictures and memorabilia, they got Mr. Grant up there!
