one of the best sushi restaurant in san mateo area, i recommend it to everyone

This restaurant has been a long time local favorite. Unfortunately, we were treated abruptly one evening so never went back. The food is tasty but we've found other Japanese restaurants in the area that are just as good or better.

good stuff, but the wait is long. Sometimes, I go around the corner to Kisaku instead.

I LOVE SUSHI SAMS. its the best restaurant ever! my family and i have been going there for over 10 years and we still love it. the unagi hand rolls are the best of life. they highlight my day. eat there!!!

I have been going to Sam's for over 10 years on a regular basis, even though I live about a 45 min drive away. It is worth it! The sushi is extremely fresh, just about the freshest you can get. Although I prefer sticking to the very reasonably priced sushi plates, my husband loves their yosenabe dinners. You won't be disappointed.

Best sushi I've had in a long time.

Waited 15 minutes for a table, which is acceptable. But extremely disappointed to find that everything we ordered to be very small portion (it's like they are conserving or running out of fishes!). It's tiny little pieces of fishes (we order Deluxe Sashimi dinners, Sushi handrolls and Sushi--large portion of rice, small pieces of fish and the meats in the hand roll do not fill-up the entire roll--it's slim). Save your money and go to the other Sushi restaurants down the block.

Sam's has the freshest fish and the best prices. Ask for their specialty seasonal items too. My favorite is their ocean trout. Think white tuna tataki, but oooh so much better. For a low budget meal try their sam's special and chili dog hand rolls.

I'm not a sushi expert but I really enjoy the food here and can tell that it is fresher and better than some of the other places I have been too. We ordered a bunch of different items and they were all good. The Sam's Special roll was recommended by the waiter and it was really tasty. I would definitely go back.
