ABSOLUTELY Incredible, authentic Mexican cuisine. Very clean store, friendly staff, great prices. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area. Don't settle for other impersonators down the street (Tres Amigos, etc.) they cannot compare to Pancho Villa.

Best Mexican Food in the Bay Area

This is by far one of the very best mexican places in the Bay Area. Where do I start... fresh ingredients, variety of choices, and great drinks (watermelon juice is a winner). If you are visiting the Bay Area encourage you to dine at Pancho Villa in San Mateo or up in the Mission district, you will not be disappointed.

OMG ...this place is to die for .Everything is fresh , tables clean .Great people ! The food is excellent if you have never been GO and you will go back i promise ..Enjoy ...wisssssh i were going !

best mexican food in the bay area

This is my favorite bay area mexican restaurant. The food is prepared fresh on demand and is delicious. There is a salsa bar with many choices, including a highly addictive green salsa w/avocado. The aguas frescas complement well with the hot food.

My favorite taqueria in San Mateo. As others mentioned, the meats are delicious and the ingredients are fresh. Their other dishes are good too, but the burritos really standout. My favorite is the carne asada burrito. I also like the fresh salsa bar. As much as I like the burritos here, the store in San Francisco (Mission) is even better.

This used to be my favorite taqueria until recently. It seems like their burritos have been reduced to nearly half the size they used to be. The quality (flavor) is still there, just not the quantity. I can understand recent rising costs for everything, but I think I would rather pay a little more if necessary for the original size burrito, than leave still hungry.

pancho villa is one of the best kept secrets on the peninsula. although it sometimes can get a little crowded, the service is good whether eating there or placing an order to go.
