Atami is by far my favorite sushi spot in San Fran. I'm there about once a week, and while there are so many other options in the city, the consistency of the meal, excellent service and overall experience is like no other. My two favorite menu items: their albacore, and mochi for dessert! The owners cook and serve the food to you, and will know your name by the end of the night....and to top it off, I can almost guarantee they'll remember it the next time you go in! Having nothing to do with the food, but a HUGE perk, is that there's a free parking lot for customers in the back.
Surprisingly this place has fantastic sushi and traditional japanese cooking. Located on busy Lombard street, they also have parking available in a small lot next to it -- a huge bonus because parking is terrible in that cow hollow area. Highly recommend this place for a small group gathering or just dinner for 2. You won't be disappointed.
