A spin-off of Chow on Market Street, this second edition favorite draws in a steady and youthful crowd. It could be due to the prime location just steps away from Golden Gate Park . The weekend brunch on the heated patio is a great answer to those sunny, yet chilly, San Francisco days. The atmosphere throughout Park Chow is homey yet funky with a fireplace and Hershey's can silverware holders. The menu is filled with all sorts of treats like freshly blended juices and smoothies, standard issue but delicious soups and sandwiches, pasta and pizza and meat and potatoes. The service is quick and friendly.
I visited this place on my first birthday in California with a friend. We sat in the roof area, with a heater on us, enjoying hot cider and soup and sandwiches. The warm woods used in the building design is fantastic, and there is a fireplace on the first floor. Great place to meet before heading to the Park.
I love this place. It's one of my favorites in the city. The food is eclectic and fantastic. It's Americanized food from across the cultural spectrum. You want spicy Thai noodles? They got it. You want a NY Strip Steak? They got it. Pasta? Yes. all great, all the time.If I could eat there all the time, I would.
After my roommate raved about thier food, I had to try, and it was amazing. Great place for meat lovers. I had the pork chops, which was tender and juicy, yummy! Highly recommend the sangria, not the white one, though, that was pulvarized fruit. The red sangria was delicious and just perfect for people like me who hate the taste of alcohol.
The City has a lot of restaurants and yet is lacking ones like Park Chow. The food is homey & delicious with a few surprises along the way. The prices are so low - you'll think the dinner menu is the lunch menu. The staff is very friendly and down-to-earth. And the decor is warm and inviting. A true Inner Sunset gem.
I really enjoy coming to Park Chow. The menu changes due to what ingredients are in season. The atmosphere is relaxing with the warmth of the fire place on the first floor and friendly service. What's also great is that it's just a block from Golden Gate Park so you can walk off the food or relax in the park before or after a meal. I personally love the Fusili of Chicken, Sausage entree. One of their fun blended drinks to have is the Blushing Orange Dream. My family and I try eat there at least twice a month if not more. If anything try the restaurant yourself and taste the goodness that is Park Chow.
Park Chow's popularity has grown steadily over the last 5 or so years. Now, you better arrive early or call up on a Friday night. I have had quite a few of their dishes. My favorite is probably their fresh grilled salmon with mashed potatos, bread, and a little green salad. However, at $15.50, it's not cheap. The quality of the fish is superb however. The service sometimes gets on my nerves. The waiters can be a little too helpful. I would rather not have to have playful banter with my waiters several times over the meal, but that's just me. The setting is very cozy, but it can be a bit loud and overwelming. Thankfully, the outside upstairs area is quiter and heated as well. Deserts are fabulous. My favorite: Pumpkin Ice Cream with a warm ginger cake covered in carmel sauce. This is about $5. So again, not cheap, but good.
