Description

If only the freshest seafood will do, then this Outer Richmond eatery is worth the trek. At peak hours there is always a wait, but bottomless glasses of free wine nullify the chilly night. Frequently packed, the dining room hums with noise but never screams. The understated, casual decor makes it malleable enough for romance or a family meal. The ocean dictates the reasonably priced menu here, so it is nearly impossible to order wrong. The preparations are simple, permitting the fish to take center stage. The wine list favors California selections. The service is great.

I have been going to Pacific Cafe since the 70's and it is as still as good as it was back then. The seafood is fresh, large quantities and an excellent value. I brought my son here as a toddler and now he is 28 and comes here with his friends. I have always felt at home here with my glass of wine in hand while waiting to be seated. The service is always good and the diversity of the crowd (young and old) is great! Customers talk to each other across the tables and while waiting in line. All in all it is a very pleasurable experience.

This is the greatest place to dine out with out of town visitors. Delicious food from the ocean in a wonderful setting. The folks running the place have been there for nearly 30 years!

Free wine while you wait! How can you beat it? The food's still good and the service is competent. Busy and deserves to be. A good deal all around, go early, after 7 is too late. The wine list is actually good so don't be afraid to try one of the featured wines.

Why, oh why do people like this place? Last I went with a group of friends, we had to wait in the freezing cold outside for over 2 hours, and that's for a group of 4! The decor is very '70s, and the cheap swill-filled glass of wine they give you while waiting isn't worth all the hassle. Moreover, the server was rude and decided to lecture us because we had asked about our salad. A couple of people ordered soup, 2 salads and several appetizers. Well, the 2 soups were served first, 30 minutes passes by and no appetizers, no soups. When we asked the server because everyone were starving by this time and our guests didn't want to eat ahead of us, even though clearly starving too, the server said that this is just how he does things. Absolutely ridiculous. The food was terrible too. Supposed to a seafood restaurant, with rotten fish. Yuck!

the wait was long even for a sunday night (sure tomorrow is a holiday but not everyone gets it off). we waited for about an hour. they served wine to people waiting so that was a nice thing (i dont drink so i didnt care). the restaurant is pretty small and it seems to be pretty popular so i guess be prepared to wait. we had the calamari vinegarette for starters and the spicy snapper and parmesan halibut. i liked the snapper better than the halibut. the parmesan was a little overpowering. the spicy snapper was really tasty. my fiance said it got to be too spicy but i didn't notice. i dont know if i would wait for an hour again but i would come back

Fish the way it should be served

Very simple, delicious, unpretentious. Not expensive, and not cheap. Just right. But they don't take reservations, so arrive early.

My birthday + last 25 years
By ,
This has always been my favorite restaurant. I have been enjoying the full experience of food, people, and atmosphere for the last 25 years. My girlfriend surprised me with 18 of my friends and close family on my birthday. This was no small order. The restaurant treated us all as family and was most accommodating. As usual, no one was disappointed with their meal. Most had expressed how good the food was. Many had already made plans to return. I brought my uncle here about five years ago. He is not accustomed to waiting any length of time to be seated. Since that first time he has become a regular. Pacific Cafe is a place to meet new people for a friendly conversation while waiting for your table. Their seafood is always fresh and prepared in a variety of ways. The owner and staff have always treated me and others so very well, especially that night of my birthday. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and wonderful service.
