The sleek dining room done in Asian ultra-modern is a setting designed not to distract diners from the delicious fusion of East and West to be found here. The ingredients, from the shops in Chinatown, couldn't be fresher and the day's menu is often planned by the couple, Angela and Larry Tse, who run this place around what they find there. The braised catfish is always a treat. The place is usually packed with a mix of locals and tourists who get the royal treatment from the well-trained wait staff.
Oh , Sure I can go home and cook nice chinese fusion masterpieces at home .. But why when I can go to
The House and have great food and no wash dishes after..... I think The House is just what San Francisco needs ....and I hope will continue to be part of the city for long time..... My fortune cookie says............. Thank You..........
A very popular place, reservations definitely recommended unless you want an excuse to visit one of the bars nearby. The food is outstanding. I had the ahi tuna tartare as appetizer, it was a little spicy and just excellent. As main course I chose the pork chops and there was nothing to regret it was delicious. Now I am just looking for an excuse to go there again ;)
This restaurant is one of the first restaurants to provide California cuisine in San Francisco. Food is consistently delicious. The service is friendly. It is a great neighborhood restaurant and it makes you keep on coming back.
Read great reviews and went for lunch. Service was indifferent and food was bland. The salmon rolls were good but greasy. The noodles with overcooked pork were bland. The special- Short ribs sandwich was only l/2 a sandwich and very greasy. Disappointing. Service was indifferent and slow. Very very noisy.
I first went to The House with my coworkers for a birthday lunch. And I can't stop going back for more! I've taken my boyfriend, my parents, my girlfriends, etc. and they all love it! I recommended the Salmon Roll appetizer. The wasabi sauce is the perfect compliment! For entrees, I've tried the Black Cod (daily special), the Sea Bass, the Ribeye Steak, the Ahi Tuna, and the Pork. All of them were fantastic! I usually don't even like fish, but I love it at The House! Don't skip out on dessert either! The Chocolate Truffle Cake is HEAVEN! I've also tried the Pear Crisp and it's pretty good as well.
