All good reviews were prior to the current owner . To be avoided ! If you click on menu , note the prices , NOT ! This new owner is like a slum lord , check out that patio and bathrooms, hello paint ??? No amex taken ! Monday nights , home cooked curry with goat meat . Beer half foam !!!!! Menu WRONG here ! Crappy food now at twice the price . What a shame, gone way down hill since Tony sold-out .
I was there today and I never experience such of bad service, the bar tender was more focus on shooting darts with some guy than serving the tenants, the people at the bar had to go get her from shooting darts to get another drink, she was not friendly at all, she does not know how to poor a beer, half of the beer was foam!!!! we had about 3 drinks and we decide to leave, this bar tender was terrible, she acted like you were bothering her when you asked for another drink! the person I was with asked her for another drink and she just looked at her and looked away and continued to chat and took her time to get her another drink. she is not attentive at all, I have to say that I've worked at Palo Alto forte last 7 years and I've been to almost every bar in the downtown and I never received service like this, it was just Terrible! and I will not return to this place, I rather go to Zibbobos or Old Pro or Cheese Cake.
While undoubtedly they have a great selection of beers, this place is dark and dirty and badly in need of a power hose and a bucket of disinfectant.
There's a smell of stale beer throughout the establishment and the toilets can only be described as putrid.
There is no other taproom on the mid-peninsula that compares to this little hole-in-the-wall English pub. In PAlo ALto you'd be hard pressed to find another place with 6 good drafts, much less 12. Say you like a good double IPA, or a quality Belgian tripple -- where you gonna go? San Francisco. By day this place is a sleepy soccer pub, which may crowd up during major football tournaments, but most of the time you can just settle in for the best fish-n-chips around. At night there is a scene, which is something in Palo Alto. I cherish this place.
Besides the mediocre food, the female bartender is nasty, disagreeable, and pompous and treats her customers like they were something brown on the bottom of her shoe. She yelled at me and then called me a degrading name. I can stay at work if I want abuse like that. I will never return and if it is the last thing I do, I will continue to tell others to take their business and money elsewhere.
