I adore this place. It s my neighborhood Chinese restaurant, and I go often. The menu is uniformly delicious. My favorite dishes are the Jalapeno Fried Rice and the General Tso Chicken. Prices are really fair for the area and the entree sizes are suitable.
Ok. Where do I start?
First off, this place is exactly what we were looking for. We re from New England, and to be honest, the chinese food here in the city differs in many ways. You don t find many American-Chinese places around in San Francisco. This place falls perfectly into that category.
Secondly, I ve been looking for crab rangoon s FOREVER. To no avail. This place not only has them, but they re better than any other place I ve had them before in my entire life. Without question.
We ordered two appetizers: crab rangoon s, and of course steamed BBQ pork rolls. DELICIOUS. The rangoon s were quite textured, with plenty of delicious ingredients in the center. The pork rolls were great too, steamed just right.
On to the entrees. We decided to get two entrees: Sesame Chicken, and General Tsao s Chicken. Soon we found out just how much food that meant. Very large portions, and they were great too! The Sesame Chicken was crunchy and sweet, while the General Tsao s was the perfect amount of sweet, and spicy. We could not ask for more.
The pricing. For San Francisco, simply fantastic:
Crab Rangoon s (6): $3.95
Steamed Pork BBQ Rolls (3): $3.95
Sesame Chicken: $7.95
General Tsao s Chicken: $7.95
*This was enough food to feed a family of 4, at least!
Ok, now to address the service. Fantastic. The waiter didn t pressure us during our meal, knew exactly when to come out and refill our water s, was very courteous, SPOKE PERFECT ENGLISH, and all around was just a really nice guy! We tipped him 35% because we were so pleased.
The decor was great on the inside, it looks a bit confusing when you walk up to it on the street, but once your inside you re seated in a very nice environment. The ambience was great, and it wasn t packed at all (being from New England, the overly crowded restaurants here in the city can just be too much at times). Hard wood floors that looked spotless, and very nice table setups.
I d recommend this place to anyone. I m curious as to why anyone would give this place a bad review. As far as my own experience here, I d give it a 6th star if I could. We both agreed, WE VE FINALLY FOUND OUR GO-TO CHINESE RESTAURANT HERE IN THE CITY!!
We came here a couple time on sunday for lunch.
We love the quiet atmosphere and neighborhood unlike other noisy chinese restaurants.
The food was delicious too and come in big portion, the mixed vegetable was fresh, cooked just right with a mild flavor of cooking wine. The chow mein were awesome too. Recommended to those who wants to eat some good chinese food in a peaceful atmosphere, without feeling rushed.
Not sure about weekday or dinner time.
