Visited in August last year. The swordfish was great and the wine was good. Nice location, but it's kind of close quarters in the dining area.

The seafood on Fisherman's Wharf is ok. Not great. This is where tourists get overcharged for seafood and since they from elsewhere and have only limited comparable experience, they think its great. Do your homework, there are great seafood places in SF, Sausalito, Berkeley. If you want more quality for your $ check out the others. Scoma's has atmosphere and local history.

Love it!!!! My husband took me to Scomas about 5 years ago and now when I go to San Francisco it is the only place I will eat. Excellent food and valet parking available.

I have traveled extensively during my career, at times more than I would like. Being a seafood fan, I have enjoyed literally hundreds of meals at seafood restaurants from Homer AK to Miami, and New York to Los Angeles. You can pay more than Scoma's for decor and ambiance but you risk stuffy and austentatious presentation over relaxed good eating. Several reviews posted here have lamented the wait time for a table. Yet the relaxed bar views of the bay, and the unrushed treatment I receive in the dining room are both charming and rare to find in a waterfront restaurant located in a world class city. It's the very thing that keeps people waiting in the bar, and keeps me coming back every time I find myself in San Francisco.. Scoma's food is comparable to the very best seafood restaurants in the country. My favorite menu items are the Lobster Bisque, and the Broiled Colassal Prawns and Dry-pack Scallops Alla Gannon entre. The scallops and vegetables are fresh and sweet. This is a feast to be savored, not rushed. Other delicious meals include the Lobster Thermidor, Marinated Cracked Crab Alla Venturi, Lobster Ravioli, and the Shellfish Saute Sec. For my money, Scoma's is a great choice of places to eat in San Francisco.

i enjoy scoma's . the food , the atmosphere, the service is fantastic. my husband and i love to eat there anytime we are in the area.we especially love the crab cocktail and the lobster thermador. we have told many friends and family about it. it has been to our surprise that so many are not aware of your place if your not from the area i suppose that is why that is.. plus the fact that it's tucked back in the little alley way which i think gives it even more character. away from all the hoopla .. we found out about scoma's from friends of ours that live in brentwood ca. we are from oakley ca. so as you can see ,we look forward to a good time in the city and a great meal at SCOMAS... thank you again for the warm hospitality.....sincerly rita herrera......... happy holidays

The untold secret here is good old bribe. My mom who ate here in the 80's told me to slip 5-10 dollers with my buisness card(no words needed) , I had a party of 5 & it was crowded. I did it, we were seated in about 5 minutes in an area that looked like it was reserved. You need to order right here, You cant go wrong with the Lobster Thermadore!
